Sun transit the houses

The Sun transits each house and sign once every year. If you use whole sign houses then Sign = House so the Sun will spend a month in each house per zodiac season. We each have our own internal clock, depending upon what month we were born. So the solar seasons really do have an effect on all over us. Some of us flourish in the Autumn rather than the Summer, for example because we might be October babies. (See my ‘How does astrology work?” post.) However the Sun transiting through our houses is dependant on our rising sign which is our physical body. The Sun represents our life force, so we tend to feel more vital and energetic when the Sun transits a house in a harmonious aspect to our ascendant, or in the rising sign itself. The Sun is also our libido so we are more frisky with it in good aspect to our ascendant!

Sun Transit 1st House

Project your brilliance out into the world during this time of year. After a period of hibernation in the 12th house, you are now ramping up your physical energy. The world should be at your fingertips, and your energy levels should be high. During your birthday month, everything revolves around you. This is the time of year when you are allowed to be self-absorbed. If you are reading for your ascendant, your battery is being re-charged with the sun in this zone.

When your ego is this swollen, you will find it difficult to see things from another’s perspective, which can cause conflicts with others. You should find some form of artistic self-expression while your creative force is at its peak. Take advantage of this time to focus on your needs and what makes you happy. The warmth and enthusiasm you radiate attract others, so make the most of social occasions to gain new, beneficial friendships.

Sun Transit 2nd House

You may feel too attached to luxury items at this time due to your fascination with the material world. To make the most of this pampering, sensual energy and share it with others. Pooling your resources is an excellent idea because it gives everyone a sense of abundance, and like attracts like, right? Negatively, the Sun in the 2nd house can’t resist displaying its bling.

It is all about your resources and how resourceful you can be. But keeping your spending in check might be challenging. A retail therapy session may be necessary if you think you deserve a treat after working too hard! Keep your new possessions understated as they could arouse jealousy from others. Even so, acquiring a ton of material goods is not the way to compensate for feeling unworthy. Your personal value system may be tested by others also. Assert your confidence and don’t be intimidated by other people’s opinions.

Sun Transit 3rd House

During this season, you should connect with people in your immediate vicinity. Many events are happening locally. No matter how hard you try, it will be impossible not to get involved, so dive right in! Keeping quiet is also not an option. If you have been active in your community, be prepared to share your opinion about local issues.

It is also a time to visit siblings or reconnect with long-lost friends. There is a restlessness about you, and you want to keep busy. Passive reading is replaced by researching and learning. There is no better time to learn something new than now. Like a sponge, your brain will soak up information. A good book will captivate you and make you want to keep reading. Local trips are enjoyable as you find you have many invites to neighbourhood events. There is much running due to running errands or bargain hunting.

Sun transit 4th House

This season stresses the need to connect with your roots. The importance of your home and personal territory increases. Spending time in your home sanctuary allows you to look inward, something your soul calls for right now. You may want to focus on improving the security of your home if you own it outright. Use this nesting energy to create a ‘safe space’ away from noisy family members.

Honouring your ancestral lineage is beneficial to your health. Looking back in time might help you feel grounded if your immediate family seems alien to you. Otherwise, seek refuge in the bosom of the family and spend time with parents or relatives. It is crucial to spend some time healing childhood wounds if dysfunction has existed within the family. The root of the injury may stem from a few generations back. Revising ancestral history can help rewire the brain into a positive growth path. It’s an ideal time to repair past traumas and restore domestic peace.

Sun Transit 5th House

Sun is at its most joyous in this summertime-vibe sector. Laughter and pleasure are in store for you and a happy and lighthearted period. So have fun with your dearest relationships. Time away from work and serious commitments will be very tempting. If you are single, you will focus heavily on romance and dating. You could find yourself a new relationship at this time of the year. Your libido will be high too.

You radiate fun-loving energy and a playful mood. As a result, you attract other pleasure seekers who share your interests. As the saying goes, “the more, the merrier.” The warm rays of the smiling Sun will spread far and wide in this sector. Younger members of your tribe will enjoy horsing around with you. So let your hair down and act like a teenager at this carefree time!

Sun Transit 6th House

We often view the 6th house as the boring zone of daily work, drudgery and duty. But you will get a lot of tedious tasks out of the way for the rest of the year. After the fun of the 5th, we are forced back into a more sensible routine. Specific tasks now should be given priority and organised. You can easily manage routine tasks like your accounts. Also, you’ll have the patience to dust annoying ornaments in display cabinets or fiddly chandeliers.

Taking care of oneself and healing is also an integral part of this process. So review your diet and exercise program. Give your body a break from its habits and addictions. Doing something like a 30-day yoga challenge or caffeine/sugar/alcohol break gives your liver a chance to flush out all the excess that has built up over the year so far. Plan for the Sun in your relationship house that follows. Then you will be able to flaunt your new, healthy appearance!

Sun transit 7th house

You are more receptive to counselling during this time of year. For example, you may need help with a problem in your intimate relationship. Conflict with others prompts the need for objective, outside advice. Competing and rivalry can be present during this time for some. But these battles serve to show who you work best. In this way, you can eliminate those who aren’t compatible with you.

As the period progresses, the main focus is on your spouse, if you have one. Did you operate too independently? You now realise that you need to take into account their feelings. If your relationship has been rocky, this can be a lovely time of reconciliation. This re-evaluation of relationships lasts until the Sun moves into the spooky 8th house. There you will retire further down into the underworld of your psyche. It will enable you to see why you attracted certain people into your life in the first place. What is the mirror telling you?

Sun Transit 8th house

This time of the year brings specimens of humanity that will cause your hair to stand on end. There may be someone whom you immediately feel strongly for, or against. Watch out for people that make you behave irrationally. Those primal behaviours are a big clue to your shadow self! You’re pulled into the underworld this month to deal with dragons and demons. In other words, the people that infuriate you the most!

It is possible to rise victorious from the underworld after this transit, but don’t think it ends there. The repulsive figures will also force you to acknowledge that they are just reflections of your disowned soul. In a sense, it will be a spiritual cleansing of your dark passages. But worry not, life will lighten up considerably after this eight-house colonic! Your life will be transformed as new horizons open up to you.

Sun Transit 9th House

Get metaphysical now as the Sun here questions dogma and illuminates dimensions you might have been blind to before. At this time, you might form friendships with foreigners or connect with spiritual mentors. This period should help you revitalise. That way you will be fully charged up to get the benefits of being in the spotlight next month. Then it will be time to remind people who you are. Until then, you will be questioning your belief systems.

You are inspired to push yourself through boundaries and go further than you would normally. Your mind is broadened by travel after you realise that your higher self needs room to grow. So be sure to speak to different types of people from diverse backgrounds. In addition to giving you a fresh perspective on the world, it will also pull you out of your parochial box. New horizons beckon and give fresh vistas to your life.

Sun Transit 10th house

There’s a lot at stake with the Sun here. Your life-calling will become apparent as you reflect on your successes and failures. The chickens have come home to roost! Talking of home, this is also the sector that deals with your mother. Your perception of how you feel the universe treats you depends on whether your mother was encouraging or critical.

If income should dive, you will need to ask some career questions. Why are you not being rewarded or recognised at this time? Was your primary judging ‘goddess’ more ‘Fire-and-brimstone’ than ‘Namaste’? You might have to work on your internalised, universal mother to feel confident and abundant in the world.

Sun Transit 11th House

So you could realise that kinship is thin on the ground. Therefore, now is the perfect time to make new friends consciously. You can accomplish this by joining groups with similar interests. Maybe even start up a group yourself. This month could change how you socialize if you tend to fall into the same old habits. The Sun inspires you to be adventurous and cultural, rather than meeting at that same old bar or cafe.

People with whom you share similar dreams will come into contact with you during this period. By conversing with our peers, we come to understand our place in the world. A lack of resonance with our old friends might indicate that we have grown out of that scene. If the scene supported negative habits or addictions, this parting of ways might be very beneficial.

Sun Transit 12th House

Oh dear, it’s the dreaded 12th house of self-undoing. Your ego dissolves into a puddle and you could feel quite lost. But it doesn’t have to get too messy. Instead, surrender to the sea of uncertainty and go with the flow of your unconscious mind. At times, it will feel like you’re in a dream, so pay attention to the images that float through the fog. Additionally, you might have to sleep a lot more than usual. Essentially, you are in a cocoon state, waiting to be reborn into your birthday month.

Even if you are reading this for your ascendant, it’s still the same vibe as the Sun in the 12th house. This is because you cannot quite access the energising solar energy while it is skulking in the shadows of your rising sign. Give your life a good vacuuming by addressing all the neglected dark crevices behind the cosmic sofa. In a literal sense, you don’t want to launch into a new solar year with last year’s stinky dust. So make sure you aren’t carrying old issues by slowing down. Take the time to look behind you, to see what you have left in your wake.
