Mars Neptune aspects are chivalrous and carry with them the romance of the high seas. Of course, you might equally find yourself captive or captivated by a rum-swilling pirate too. This combination is extremely seductive, but with the hard aspects, comes the danger of falling victim to sexual obsessions.
The victim/saviour archetype is strong here too because these folk will love to fight for the underdog. Falling in love with a drug addict is possible, as is the danger of becoming one.. Neptune rules poisons and Mars is a desire for those forbidden fruits. Chasing the unattainable lover is another manifestation, as Mars loves the chase while Neptune tends towards unrequited and courtly love.
Mars sextile or trine Neptune in the sky blends drive with imagination, opening doors for creativity, spirituality, and compassion. This influence inspires deep empathy and encourages people to pursue idealistic goals with passion, often channeling energy into art, humanitarian work, or mystical exploration. Relationships take on a romantic, almost ethereal quality, fostering profound emotional bonds. The Mars-Neptune energy is also suited to careers in fields like music, film, or travel, where visionary thinking and the desire to explore thrive. When positively directed, this transit helps individuals tune into their inner selves, drawing strength from spiritual resilience and embracing life’s mysteries with courage.
mars Neptune Natal Aspect
Mars Neptune aspects can easily become celibate but have great yearnings for the object of their desire, who may well reside overseas. Being married to someone who makes frequent voyages abroad would suit this aspect very well, as would a career in the merchant navy.
Sexual relationships are idealized and the native could actually tire of them quite quickly if not for frequent separations to keep the romance alive. (Eg: with actors and musicians who tour a lot.) Sex is also spiritualised with the softer aspects and there an interest in Tantra. Of course the saying ‘Sex, and drugs and Rock ‘n Roll‘ was made for Mars Neptune aspects. We must not forget that sexual deception is also possible, check out Bill Clinton who has the conjunction!
Admiring Admirals
Fantasy mixed with sports would be a great way to channel Mars square or opposition Neptune, since the tension means the native will really strive for the body beautiful. So you might find body-builders here, sporting heroes or even glamour models. Earning money through advertising sports gear also springs to mind. These people will become pin-ups for their Mars attributes, whether they be sexy, heroic or sporty. In the case of Andy Warhol with Mars square Neptune, his passion for ‘pin-ups’ fuelled his career which turned pop culture and icons into art.
There can be glamorisation of crime too with Mars square Neptune. The East End gangsters known as the ‘Kray Twins’ were fawned over by celebrities in 1960’s London, they even became the subject of a movie. The victim role can be romanticised also, where the chase for the unattainable become hopelessly tragic. The most positive use of Mars Neptune hard aspects would probably be the spiritual warrior, which activates the Joan of Arc archetype.
Mars conjunction, square or opposition Neptune in the sky can bring confusion and blur boundaries, making it easy to chase illusions or fall into escapism. Mars’ assertiveness combined with Neptune’s dreaminess may lead to unrealistic expectations, especially in relationships. This transit heightens vulnerability to deception, addiction, or misdirected pursuits as individuals seek escape or idealized love. There’s a risk of infatuation or obsession, particularly in romantic settings, which can cause emotional exhaustion. Without clear goals or boundaries, this aspect can lead to aimless wandering, draining energy and inviting disillusionment when dreams don’t match reality, potentially leading to frustration or disappointment.

Mars Neptune is also the knight in shining armour and the good Samaritan, someone who comes to the rescue in an emergency. Writing romance novels would be a great way to channel this seductive energy, the native would be fantastic at generating a plot with many agonising decisions. With Mars/Neptune it’s all about the chase and the seduction.
Photography is big too with Mars generating the mechanics and Neptune the surrealist effect of the 3D image on a 2D surface. Designing mechanical objects, such as computers, high-tech cars or virtual-reality machines are possible gifts of this aspect. Laser beams and cyber-weaponry also spring to mind with the harder aspects.
A career in art and design is the most obvious way to employ the rich imagination and glorious visions generated by Mars Neptune aspects. The softer aspects may be prone to live in a fantasy world. However, if Mars is strong it will take action with its Neptune dreams and push to make them a reality.

Henry VIII Of England was most famous for having six wives as well as being a champion womanizer. Henry was said to have written ‘Greensleeves’ for Anne Boleyn who he was absolutely besotted with. Anne managed to avoid being one of Henry’s mistresses because she refused to sleep with him until they were married.
Henry’s Mars square Neptune guaranteed he would put Anne up on a pedestal and risk excommunication from the Pope in order to be with his goddess. Of course, when the chase was over and Anne failed to produce a male heir, Henry was onto the next unattainable maiden.
Other Mars square Neptune traits of Henry where that he was known for his physical fitness and was a fine athlete in his youth.
He was a pin-up King, being that he was a strapping 6 footer (rare in those times.) with Marsy red hair. He fought for and gained control of the Church Of England independent from the Catholic dictates of Rome. Henry thereafter was given the very Mars/Neptune title ‘Defender Of The Faith’. Henry was also very charismatic in his prime and gifted as both an author and composer.

Mars Opposite Neptune
Steve Jobs was the creative entrepreneur and co-founder and CEO of Apple Computers. The symbol of Apple Inc is of the forbidden fruit itself, with a bite taken out of it. Jobs went to college but dropped out to travel around India to seek enlightenment.
In the mid-1970’s Jobs experimented with LSD saying one of his experiences with it had been the most important things he had done in his life.
After that Job’s became a Zen Buddhist and went on many lengthy meditation retreats and even considered becoming a monk. This so-called spiritual attitude did not square very well with Job’s treatment of his ex-partner and mother of his child, Chris Ann Brennan.
Jobs own childhood, however, was fractured and possibly explains his cranky behaviour. Jobs’ adoptive father was an aggressive personality, rebuilt cars and worked as a ‘repo man’. His ‘tough’ personality came from having an abusive (Mars) and alcoholic (Neptune) father himself. Job’s biological father Abdulfattah Jandali was a Syrian from a Muslim family.
At college, Jandali was also quite Marsy. He became a student activist and even spent time in jail for his behaviour. Job’s mother (a Swiss/German Catholic and more of a Neptune archetype.) decided to give up Jobs for adoption because her strict father was against her marriage to Jandali.
By all accounts Steve Jobs found it hard to settle into the educational system, was a ‘socially awkward loner’ [1] The genius who invented the iphone, iMac, iTunes etc etc was very difficult to live with. Job’s was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2003, but refused conventional treatment:
“ he tried a vegan diet, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and other treatments he found online, and even consulted a psychic. He was also influenced by a doctor who ran a clinic that advised juice fasts, bowel cleansings and other unproven approaches.” ~ Wiki. All sounds very Neptunian. Unfortunately, Jobs lost his battle with cancer in 2011.
