Saturn Conjunction Pluto

Saturn conjunct Pluto was exact at 22º Capricorn on January 12 2020. On Jan 11 2020 there was a grand stellium that included Jupiter and Ceres also. That huge build-up of planets spanning 20º-23º Capricorn will affect us for many years to come.

UPDATE: This article was originally written in June 2019 but has not been updated. I thought this article was worth bumping up again. I have seen a lot of articles in the media about why astrologers did not predict the CV.

I think this was because there were no obvious health indicators, no big Neptune conjunctions. But I did see the fear of death combined with propaganda, bondage and control. I took the title of this post from the ‘Protect & Survive’ meme of the 1980’s in relation to AIDS.

Protect & Survive

Along with HIV, there is also another notable correlation for the current health crisis. The last Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn brought, The Dancing Plague of 1518. Which just goes to show how hysteria can kill. I have a recent YouTube post that talks about the astrology of pandemics.

In astrology Saturn rules fear and Pluto is the taboo and unseen. Saturn/Pluto is the deep state, the hidden hand and death cults. These are both planets of endings, but it is both a death and resurrection aspect that contains many paradoxes. With this conjunction in Capricorn, the most obvious meaning is of the collapse of structures and having to rebuild again from the foundations up. No more papering over the cracks.

When I read Sue Tompkins interpretation of Saturn/Pluto connections I realised that we must already be feeling this conjunction already!;

“Saturn-Pluto people often feel persecuted. Even if there is no obvious reason for such feelings, one manifestation of this combination is of the individual who identifies with people who have been ostracised from society for some reason, or who have suffered a cruel fate.

Perhaps persecution of their race, their colour, their sexual orientation, their religion or some ‘taboo’ in their life which society shuns….there is often an identification with what the individual sees as the groups suffering” [1]

Enslave ~ Unslave

Saturn conjunct Pluto

It seems these days everyone is competing to be the most oppressed group. With this comes the sense of entitlement for reparations from those they perceive to be the cause of their victimhood. This is not the most empowering position, is it?

Saturn conjunct Pluto = fear of power? But it also shows us just how fragile and vulnerable the so-called elite really are. Everything is upside down where the most ‘oppressed’ are actually holding the reigns of power.

When looked at some of the natives with this aspect in their natal chart I could clearly see the feeling of victimisation in some of the activists in the list below. While we also have Queen Victoria who must be the quintessential icon of the British Empire and colonialism. Under Queen Victoria, slavery was abolished, yet 500 years ago, with this conjunction in Capricorn, the African slave trade started.

So this aspect can be both about putting someone in chains (Saturn) but also unchaining them. Saturn rules boundaries so by the same token this aspect can make for very strong personal and national boundaries but also the demolition of those defences too.

Saturn Conjunct Pluto In 1982/83

Saturn conjunct Pluto is very much the nuclear missile of combinations. The fear of extinction that came with the invention of said device kept a lot of us who grew up in the ’80s with the feeling that we could be all be dust in the time it takes to boil an egg (The 4-minute warning.)

As someone who was a teenager at that time, I remember the weird subliminal feeling of impending doom that we all had. That state of mind was only amplified by television series like ‘The Day After’ (1983).

The YouTube Version with added comments and updated summary. This article was written back in June 2019. The Video has more up to date observations for December 2019.

Working For The Black Gas

We also had Frankie Goes to Hollywood and their video of the song ‘Two Tribes’ (1984) (which portrayed Ronald Reagan and Konstantin Chernenko in a boxing ring.) , The songs starts with an air attack warning siren and “featured snippets of narration from actor Patrick Allen, recreating his narration from the British Protect and Survive public information films about how to survive a nuclear war.” ~ Wikipedia.

The Aids epidemic and the ad campaign “Don’t Die Of Ignorance” brought home the fatality of this sexually transmuted disease and made us all fearful of having sex without a barrier method (Saturn).

Even the fashion had us looking like the walking dead with the start of Goth fashion. Ultravox’s video Vienna portrays well the bittersweet, apocalyptic vibe. Dancing new romantics, frozen in time expressed the faded decadence of a dying British empire.

‘Choose Life!’ & Bondage Fashion

The weird contradiction of living with this background doom and gloom and the ‘Cold War’ was that we actually partied pretty hard like time was running out so we might as well go out with a bang! Prince’s hit song ‘1999’ (1982) from the album of the same name sums the atmosphere up well. I don’t want to paint out a picture like we were all miserable in the 1980s, the mood was quite celebratory also, like resurrection after death. Remember those ‘Choose Life’  T-Shirts by Katharine Hamnett? (Launched in 1983).

In Part 2 of this post I look at: collective CPTSD, alienation, baphomet & power ducats, currency & materialism, idol worship and constellation Lyra.
