New Moon 26 April ~ Blossoming

The New Moon April 26 2017 falls in Taurus decan 1. The springtime, mythical theme continues with yet more activation of grain goddess Ceres/Demeter. This New Moon makes no aspects to the conventional planets, but is actually conjunct Asteroid Demeter, the Greek version of Ceres. The New Moon aligns with Fixed star Metallah, connected with Ceres also! We have Mercury retrograde traveling through this part of the sky which highlights the myth of Andromeda too, which is yet another mother/daughter theme. This New Moon clearly symbolised a rite of passage then. The idealistic but naïve virgin blossoms into the responsible and realistic mother.

New Moon on April 26 2017 at 6º Taurus Decan 1. Aspects: Conjunct Asteroid Demeter. Fixed Star: Metallah in the Triangle.

These major stars in Taurus decan 1 have meanings specific to the Moon here:

Mirach 0º “Trouble with opposite sex owing to indiscretions, bad for domestic affairs, honor through martial matters.”
Mira 1º “ when linked with the Moon, melancholy will then appear.”
Hamal 9º  Patient, slow success through hard work, trouble through love affairs but favorable for marriage, marriage partner gains by business or speculation.”

Fixed Star Metallah & Asteroid Demeter

The New Moon is conjunct Fixed star Metallah and Asteroid Demeter. Metallah in Triangulum is associated with Ceres who asked that it be put in the sky to represent her island Sicily (Which is shaped like a triangle). Ceres also intended it as a gift to her daughter Persephone. So just like nearby constellations Andromeda (home of star Mirach) and Cassiopeia there is another Mother/Daughter connection here. Noonan says Metallah “indicates those of a just nature and those whose living is made in the legal profession.” While Robson says Triangulum “is said to give a just, companionable, truthful, righteous and benevolent nature, with interest in architecture and Freemasonry.”

New Moon April 2017Other version of the Roman myth re; Triangulum says “Jupiter gave Sicily to Persephone (daughter of Ceres) as a wedding present on her marriage to Pluto. … the sickle with which Saturn used to castrate his father, Uranus, fell on Sicily….The Astronomical glyphs for both Saturn and the asteroid Ceres have a sickle; handle-down sickle is a symbol of Ceres; the handle-up sickle is a symbol of Saturn.” Ceres and Saturn seem to have a connection to ancestors, their cycles and how they connect to their descendants.

Demeter is basically the Greek version of Ceres and most famously the goddess of grain and agriculture. But some lesser known connections are that of her association with the Minoan goddess Cybele who was quite a colourful character as you can see from my study on Asteroid Cybele. Greek Demeter is associated with horses. “Demeter as mare-goddess was pursued by Poseidon, and hid from him among the horses of King Onkios, but could not conceal her divinity. In the form of a stallion, Poseidon caught and covered her. Demeter was furious (erinys) at Poseidon’s assault; in this furious form, she is known as Demeter Erinys….In Arcadia, Demeter’s mare-form was worshiped into historical times. Her xoanon of Phigaleia shows how the local cult interpreted her: a Medusa type with a horse’s head with snaky hair..”

New Moon April Summary

Summary starts about 10 mins into video. Looks at the destruction of the family, disconnection from nature, the cyber bubble of ‘likes’ and educational indoctrination.
