Moon Square Mars

Moon Square Mars

Moon square Mars is a highly emotional, combustible and passionate combination. The square brings such intense feelings and moods to crisis point, so these people more than most, need to vent this great energy into some project which fuses the Moon with Mars. This could manifest in a variety of ways; starting at the most base level would be sexual conquesting. In a man it would be more likely to be a great appetite for women, plain and simple. In a woman it would just be a need to express themselves sexually, otherwise they may feel like they have permanent premenstrual tension. If the sexual expression is thwarted in any way then of course the flip side is great anger and rage.

The next level up would be a great urge to protect and defend their family, but also a need for their family to get ahead. They will work long hours so their children go to the best schools, success and competativeness is encouraged, but they may be a little too gung-ho and pushy with their kids. This could also describe a mother who was very feisty and passed on the message to her child that failure was not an option. This can produce very precocious and cocky Moon square Mars kids, or conversely a child who finds it difficult to express their anger. A waxing square may be less conscious and therefore more passive-aggressive whereas a waning square has had more time to utilise the great potential in this aspect and could really move mountains with it, Gandhi below is a good example.

Moon Square Mars Celebrities

Larry Hagman must have tapped into his Moon square Mars to play JR Ewing, the role he immortalised in the hugely popular soap Dallas. JR was fiercely protective of his family and this Mars ambition and rampant sexual conquesting epitomised the runaway greed of the 1980s. Hagman himself had his own battle with his appetite for drink. Larry had a famous actress mother Mary Martin, but he spend most of his childhood with his grandmother while his mother was working. The absence of his mother obviously left quite a hole in his life which he later filled with drinking. He started drinking heavily at the age of 14 after his grandmother died. Moon square Mars here reflects the pain of loosing a full time mother.

  1. I would agree. I recently had a woman in my life who has this aspect and circumstances beyond our control sorta got in the way from us truly spending good time together. I’m not very emotional and I think this got under her skin. Within days, her mood changed and she started lashing out in subtle ways, with sarcasm and arrogance. And boy, did you want things the way she wanted! If she didn’t get it, the pot seemed to be boiling over!

  2. Wow. I do love reading your articles, and have learned so much about astrology, and more importantly about myself, when I read these explanations about aspects in the chart. This one in particular was quite an eye opener for me and explains a great deal of the frustration I have felt in the past and now brings a sense of understanding and acceptance. Thanks very much.

  5. A fellow I’ve been seeing has his Scorpio moon (opposite Algol) square to his Mars on Regulus (Leo). Mars in his first. I think Mars on Regulus just amps up this aspect. He’s very charming, DEFINITELY loves women and despite being a decade older than me – was able to convince me to go on a date with him. Add to that the fact that his Scorp moon is quincunx to Jupiter in Gemini. He’s incredibly direct, honest, chivalrous, and very intense. His moon is on my south node (my north node is on Algol) so I know that I’m playing with fire – but my Mars is on Alpheratz. Fire pretty…
