Moon Conjunct/Quincunx Uranus ~ Shocking

Moon conjunct or quincunx Uranus breeds a range of crazed lunatics, unconventional rebels and quiet outsiders. There is a pathological need to shock and outrage. However Moon conjunct or quincunx Uranus are often shy and uncomfortable with the notoriety their outrageous behaviour brings them. This aspect can be branded as an attention seeker, when all it is doing is being itself. The roots of this seemingly bonkers behaviour very often stems from their upbringing. The mother was either a genius, a very eccentric individual, really spaced-out or totally absent. Whatever the case, the mother was just not the same as other mothers so these kids grow up feeling that they are unusually special or that they not worthy of normal parenting because they are freaks. Sometimes there is an odd mix of the two which leaves them feeling very insecure.

Another manifestation of this Moon conjunct or quincunx Uranus is that the mother was more of a best friend than a nurturer, so that the child grows up too fast and sees or hears things that were far too adult for them. This can make them child prodigies or overly precocious. Some of them reclaim their lost childhood as adults, and are accused of living a fantasy existence. At least this naive fascination with life enables Moon/Uranus folk to think anything is possible and they are often incredibly inventive, ingenious and imaginative.

Moon conjunct or quincunx Uranus can also describe a shock to the infant at a very vulnerable stage in their development, which can leave them feeling rather unhinged. These individuals come across as exciting, electric and quite chaotic unless they have more stabilising factors in their chart. Both the Moon and Uranus are fluctuating and changeable, their emotions often change in a flash. Uranus stands for the truth and revelation, so it can happen that these people will risk exile by speaking truth that the populous find hard to accept. Moon conjunct or quincunx Uranus may never feel truly at home in the present moment because they are so far ahead of time in their thinking.

David Icke is a great example of the strange childhood, shy misfit and controversy this placement can bring. David’s upbringing was of such poverty that he was told to hide by his mother when the rent was due, except she never explained they were hiding from the landlord they owed money to and not the boogie man… Instead young David would cower under the bed not knowing why this strange man was knocking and peering menacingly through their windows. Icke says he still gets a shock (Uranus) if someone knocks at his front door (Moon). At school he was a loner, nervous and shy to the point he used to feel faint at assemblies. As a footballer and then sports reporter he had a Moon conjunct uranusperiod of conventionality, but that was only until his enlightening experience in 1991. After this episode he constantly wore turquoise, allegedly said he was the son of god and then was publicly ridiculed for saying so on the Wogan show in front of millions of viewers. The eccentricities continue, he is famous worldwide for “out there” conspiracy theory and lizards.

Galileo was an Italian astronomer, polymath, engineer, physicist and is known as the father of science. Galileo was born in 1564 and was the first astronomer to make full use of the telescope. He discovered moons around Jupiter and made a sketch of the surface of the earth’s moon. Galileo believed in the Copernican view of the universe, which had the sun at the centre. This belief put Galileo in conflict with the Catholic church because a heliocentric model went contrary to biblical scripture. Galileo had many powerful patrons who helped protect him from persecution from the inquisitors. One of his sponsors even became pope. (Urban VIII). Galileo promised to discontinue research into the heliocentric universe, but eventually was punished anyway. The controversial Moon quincunx Uranus energy meant Galileo couldn’t really expect a sedate retirement. For his truth-seeking activities Galileo experienced interrogation under threat of torture and was placed under house-arrest until his death.

*The Inconjunct is another word for the quincunx. In traditional astrology, nether the conjunction or the quincunx are technically ‘aspects’ because the planets are too close in distance to ‘see’ the other. The conjunction functions as a blind spot, while the quincunx works as an adjustment. They share the ‘blindness’, so that is why I have grouped them together. Aspectare is Latin for ‘To observe’, or look at attentively.

  1. Ha! Well, I have Leo Moon conjunct Uranus on my Ascendant, but a trine from Saturn in Sag probably tones that down. Still, not a comfortable position, especially embarrassing for a conventional Virgo Sun (square Saturn). I’ve tended to let my friends be the wild and crazy ones, at least letting me feel less weird. But my mom (a Leo) was definitely not like other moms – she worked (moms of my day were often stay-at-home cookie baking types) and dressed fashionably and was a lot of fun, though not very nurturing.

  2. This aspect is THE toughest one in my chart (5 degree Libra conjunct Uranus 5 degrees) it is a trip is all i can say!! A lot of emotional detachment but yet very intense feelings, laughing so hard one minute that I cry and tears are streaming down my face to crying the next. I have a really dark & keen sense of humor (insane humor is a good aspect of it @ least in libra i guess as i don’t have earth/fire/water moon)
Well my Mother is extraordinarily unconventional, she makes her living in astrology, tarot, & spiritual healer/counselor (for over 25 years too i might add) & has never followed a so called traditional path. We are so not close though! Also, she treated me just like a younger sister & still to this day I feel that way! She regularly confided her personal problems and up and down frustrations and emotions with me all through out my whole childhood/teenage years to me (like I was a therapist..it was weird)!! father & her boyfriends/husbands. (sigh)!!. Also, there was great trauma from my childhood of birth to 5 years old especially (although there was even heavier emotional trauma to deal with from 12-18 while @ home). so that feeling of keeping people close & pushing them away (like you care but you just turn it off, I dont know it’s hard to explain) ‘s kind of a seriously constant theme. Sorry, didn’t mean to write a book, just wanted to share with you. 🙂

  3. My mother was not mean, but she was not a nurturer with me. She was emotionally distant. As I had a younger sibling who was physically handicapped, I didn’t get much attention from her and was pretty much left on my own. I loved my M intensely and always craved her approval and affection. Even now…I’m pushing 70 and she’s 96, I’m bothered by her emotional detachment. My Moon is cnj. Uranus in Tropical Gemini/Sidereal Taurus in the 12th house. Our relationship is based mostly on discussing books, movies, TV shows, world events…nothing intimate. I should add that she’s highly educated and worked as a librarian at a prestigious university.
