Full Moon 12 January 2017 ~ Tug ‘O’ War

The January Full Moon In Cancer Decan 3: Put a Full Moon in a decan awash in emotionality and what do you get? Volatile moods, devotion, extreme passion and deep intuition. Inside there might be a tempest raging, but at this time it is vital to display a neutral mask. If we are bitten at this Full Moon we will be not twice, but thrice shy! Under the surface of this lunation, the Gemini twins are playing tug-of-war.

Full Moon 12 January 2016 at 22º Cancer Decan 3. Aspects: Square Uranus & Jupiter. Fixed Star: Pollux in the Twins of Gemini.

This is because even though we are in tropical Cancer, this Full Moon falls in the decan that contains the twin stars of Castor and Pollux. So the energy is very bi-polar, where we find it hard to make a decision. The jump between playing the angel and devil in the collective can be quite stark too.

Those touched by this full moon might have to make the best of a reckless choice made in ‘devil’ mode. Avoid emotional, impulse ‘buys’, or you might be duped into tolerating bad behaviour just because you can’t get out of the contract. However if you are genuinely betrayed under the law, feel free to pull out dark twin Pollux….

Moon Cancer 3 type revenge will often come right out of the blue and be totally out of character. The Moon is very strong in this decan in terms of attracting luxury and comfort. Investing in the family unit is rewarded at this time. Abundance occurs where you invested your time and loyalty 6 months ago at the Cancer New Moon.

Fixed Star Pollux

Full Moon January 2017Both of the main stars of constellation Gemini fall in this decan, Castor was known as the ‘good’ mortal twin while Pollux was seen as the ‘immortal’ but ‘bad’ twin. This Moon is closer to Pollux so it carries a bit of a bad reputation.

Pollux, then was a boxer, and is depicted holding a club in his hand.  “It gives a subtle, crafty, spirited, brave, audacious, cruel and rash nature, a love of boxing, dignified malevolence, and is connected with poisons.”

Pollux is considered extremely Martian. “Just as Mars has it’s good sides if the energy it creates is channelled constructively, so Pollux should not always be considered as unhelpful. The star badly placed could manifest that way, not by the native misusing his energy but by others deceiving him and fate playing him some cruel tricks.” [1]. So then the Cancerian/Lunar influence can make these Pollux types too trusting, but they also have a great skill with words and can tell some whooping lies to save their own skin if they really have to.
