Full Moon February 2019 ~ Persephone’s Crown

The full moon 19 February 2019 falls at 0º Virgo. This is an important full moon that triggers fixed star Regulus that moved into the sign of Virgo in November 2011. In the post I discuss the themes of this paradigm shift and what that means for the collective. The Full moon is also trine Uranus and is associated with the tarot card the 8 of Pentacles. The Healing crystal will be the orange Carnelian which is associated with Virgo and Isis.

Full Moon February Astrology ~ Virgo Decan 1

The Moon in Virgo decan 1 although modest in power, is pretty good at manifestation as long as the moon is waxing. So up until this Full Moon february 2019 is a powerful time for those manifesting. It can also be used for creating the means for you to be able to say bye-bye to people or situations that have been keeping you enslaved. Otherwise, after this Full Moon has peaked, the waning cycle will show up any cracks and defects in people or projects that you might have been ignoring.

Full Moon February 2019Virgo generally is known for perfection, but in Virgo decan 1 if this Full Moon can’t be perfect then it will be perfectly flawed and make an artistic statement out of that fact. Healing hands can work miracles. If we are not particularly drawn to healing at this time, then this manual dexterity can work ‘miracles’ in other ways. There is cathartic angst in very physical strumming, scribbling (like Abstract expressionism!) or just scrubbing the house like a mad person. However we use our hands, this Full Moon gives them the ability to work hard at purging toxins. Sometimes this exposure does not look pretty and in the collective (or those touched by this Full Moon) we could see some very ugly full moon behaviour.

Full Moon february 2019 Star ~ Regulus

Regulus 29º ~ Occult interests, powerful friends, danger from enemies and false friends, gain by speculation, public prominence, great power, honor, wealth, benefits seldom last, violence, trouble and sickness. Make women high spirited and independent. [1] “A natural leader who leads by love and devotion, rather than power or authority. To be drawn to a humanitarian career and to be loved by others. Event-driven, pride in success and anger at failure.” [2]

Regulus. This bright triple star flashes white and ultramarine. Regulus, Cor Leonis (Lionheart) is one of the four royal Persian stars and archangels that guarded the cardinal points in the heavens (circa 3000-2500 BC). It also lies directly on the Sun’s ecliptic path making it extra powerful. Traditionally it has mixed reviews, verging from great fortune, status, honour and fame to scandal, downfall, disgrace and ruin. Much depends on how Regulus is configured in the chart.

Full Moon February 2019Regulus is frequently brandished as a fortunate star. Its success comes from daring, impulsive leaps. But they can also fail spectacularly too so they need to plan carefully. If we look at how cats hunt we get an idea. They slowly creep up on their prey (or project). It looks like nothing is happening for ages and then boom, suddenly they are there, shocking, carnal, with saucer black eyes high from the adrenalin blood rush.

Their instincts take over and congeniality goes out the window. After that they show off like nobody’s business, proudly displaying their prize catch. This may get quite vulgar and uncouth even, but they are forgiven. These cats have big generous hearts, and their unashamed pride, openness and honesty are refreshing.

Now how does all that blood-and-guts fair in sophisticated Virgo now that Regulus has precessed into this sign? In the Regulus post, I go into detail what this shift might mean. “Could Regulus crossing this symbolic sphinx cusp, Leo to Virgo, herald the age of Aquarius? Many astrologers speculate that Virgo will teach Leo to put aside ego, dispense personal glory, become more humanitarian and have respect for mother Earth itself.  Other ‘star seed’ type commentators describe a switch from service-to-self (Leo) towards service-to-others. (Virgo=Service, Aquarius=Others). Now all this assumes that Leo’s ego is somehow a bad thing!

Conversely, however, those with a weak sense of self are also those that suffer from narcissistic personality disorders (And other related Dark triad traits. See Ceres post.) Without strong sovereignty, service-to-others can become co-dependancy and pathological altruism! Does this mean Regulus into Virgo leaves us with a feminised, impotent neuter cat? Certainly not! A positive transition of Regulus into Virgo should hopefully give us a Hieros Gamos, the inner marriage within ourselves.” Maybe we shall learn the secret of the Sphinx.

The quick summary version of the Full Moon february 2019 for those in a hurry!

Full Moon February 2019 Tarot Card

Full Moon 8 PentaclesThe tarot card associated with this full moon February 2019 is the 8 of pentacles. This is a card of commitment and craftsmanship. Karmically this will be a life where one pays a lot of attention to detail and completing tasks. Education and scholarships are important and it is about giving something back.

In this life, however, the native must learn “you may be working hard to build a secure future for you and your partner or family. Make sure you remember to go home regularly and make some time for fun and social activities. The type of person you are leaves you exposed and vulnerable to becoming a workaholic. If you let this happen, then it may very well destroy your lovely relationship. You must work hard at striking the right balance. (This life)you can have both you know!” ~ teachmetarot.

Full Moon February 2019

Full Moon February Aspect ~ Trine Uranus

Moon trine Uranus brings an abundance of radical and innovative energy through an individual into the public eye. At this time the worlds self-assured rebels take to the stage. These will be folk who don’t give a fig about conforming to the status quo. Those touched by this full moon have the opportunity to bring to fruition; personal freedom, revolution and electric genius that has been refined over many lifetimes. The more outlandish behaviour presented, the more the public seems to lap it up. The trine is supposedly harmonious energy, but we still get some challenge with this aspect. Having such strong courage of one’s convictions will often provoke criticism, fear and even envy from the conformists. Often this aspect’s critics are the very people who would love to lead a more honest lifestyle but are far too constrained by the fear of being rejected by their peers.

The 1st Face Of Virgo

Full Moon February 2019 ~ Summary

At this Full Moon february 2019 again we get to experience the concentrated energy of Regulus in Virgo. The Solar Eclipse August 2017 gave us a taste of the long term influence of Regulus in Virgo. That solar eclipse fell on Trump’s ascendant and was visible in the US so it was an important one for North America. Since then, I have been studying narcissistic abuse and its connection with the Persephone archetype which is also associated with Virgo the maiden. The imagery for the first face of Virgo mentions the pomegranate which fits with Virgo as Persephone perfectly.

Full Moon February 2019The trine from Uranus will help any Persephones that have been groomed into to self-sacrifice, to rebel against their captors. The psychological bullying from the elites through their puppet press-meisters is also being revealed in instances recently where they went too far. I have yet to make a YouTube video about these two examples but they are ones that absolutely threw me in their audacity.

The first one was the death threats to the teenage Catholic boy who decided he wanted to set a boundary to a guy who was banging a drum in his face. Just think for a moment, what if the roles were reversed? The smug smile of resistance would be called ‘brave’ and he would’ve been compared to Gandhi.

The other blatant piece of propaganda was the now infamous Gillette advert which basically guilt-trips men about their ‘toxic masculinity’. Apparently it’s ‘not cool’ for a guy to approach a woman he finds attractive anymore…*sigh*. I’m not sure how the sexes are supposed to get together in the 21st century unless women now have to always make the first move. But who wants to feel like they have to do the chasing “not cool, not cool”…

‘The Best A Man Can Get?’

Anyway, we are certainly getting the negative side of Regulus in Virgo which it seems is attempting to castrate straight European men, and by extension, kill birth rates in the west. Which are bad enough as it is! I also, as an (albeit lapsed) Catholic myself, I have to make a comment on the amount of abuse that is being hurled at Christians these days.

It seems Christianity got the short straw when it comes to the religious tolerance that is shown to all other religions by the mass media. Plenty of Jesus cartoons out there… Regulus in Virgo might put an end to the guilt and shame that has been groomed into Christians since the day they were born. Oh, and of course we were born guilty weren’t we, with our original sin!! What other religion has to put up with that shite? Another tenant of Catholicism is being ‘Pro-Life’ which might be another reason it is constantly being attacked. Religious families tend to be bigger, more united and generally more self-sufficient. (ie; Will be less reliant on big government and its social programs).

Saturn Sextile Neptune

As with the previous new moon, the spiritual Saturn sextile Neptune aspect is triggered again, very beautifully this time. Mercury with Neptune on Achernar and Ankaa. Achernar brings success in ecclesiastical matters and Ankaa is the phoenix from the flames. In other words the resurrection of Persephone from her enslavement in the underworld. On the other side, Venus is conjunct Saturn on Vega which gives resilience and a shield against attack. Setting boundaries with love!

Maybe at this Full Moon february 2019 will see reform within Christianity. Apparently, Christian-inspired paganism and spiritual practices that invoke the ancestors and connect to the land are the fastest growing religions in the west. Why is Paganism booming in Europe and beyond?  There is also a growing interest in the gnostic branch of Christianity also since the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Scriptures, the gospel of Mary Magdalene and the popularity and film version of the book ‘The Da Vinci Code book’ by Dan Brown.

Full Moon February 2019 Crystal Healing

The crystal I chose for this full Moon is the Orange Carnelian since it is associated with Virgo, Isis and fertility. Cassandra Eason says “Divinatory meaning: You may get to breath new life into a relationship. (As Isis did) Empowerment: I am as courageous as a lioness (Fits with the brave star Regulus) Physical benefits: Can aid female fertility, IVF and artificial semination, PMS, menstrual and menopausal symptoms, kidneys, colds, blood disorders, heart palpitations, recovery after illness, surgery, accident or trauma.” [3]

full moon february 2019“In antiquity, as well as today, Carnelian is believed to help timid speakers become both eloquent and bold. [Simmons, 92] Ancient Warriors wore Carnelian around their neck for courage and physical power to conquer their enemies….Carnelian is a stabilizing crystal, perfect for anchoring in the present. Its high energy helps restore lost vitality and motivation and stimulates creativity for new pursuits.

It improves concentration and removes extraneous thoughts in daydreamers, and during meditation. This stone also protects against envy, rage, and resentment – yours, or from others, and encourages a love of life. It is useful for overcoming abuse of any kind, helping you to trust yourself and your perceptions. [Hall, 94-95].

Orange Carnelian brings joy and friendship, pleasure, and family togetherness. It is a happy and sharing stone, integrating the parts of our communal lives, bringing things and people together. It is a stone of physical pleasure and intimacy. In lighter shades, Orange Carnelian promotes companionship and affection, while the darker crystals deepen the sense of belonging and home.” ~ crystalvaults.com

  1. “which basically guilt-trips men about their ‘toxic masculinity’. Apparently it’s ‘not cool’ for a guy to approach a woman he finds attractive anymore…* ”
no, that is NOT what it means.
but if THAT is how you interpret the message…..
if you think you can’t approach a woman anymore….
then perhaps its best you don’t.

  2. I normally enjoy reading your posts and enjoy parts of this one, especially the part about the myth of Persephone, that the role of this full moon cycle is for Persephone to break free from being narcissistic supply.

Where I don’t follow your line of thought, however, is with your views on toxic masculinity as castration. I don’t know how you can condemn a narcissistic president, acknowledge that narcissism is a theme a culturally relevant theme of our times, and then proceed to defend what amounts to narcissism. Your attitude in this domain is reminiscent of the defensiveness characteristic of those in narcissistically blind positions of power that feel threatened by the “castration” of power removal. We cannot forget that narcissism is black and white, it tends toward extremes, and the world is not viewed as it actually is, in shades of grey and in terms of power dynamics.

Asking men to own traits that have been conditioned and disowned as female is only demasculating if the world is a black and white either-or essentialist argument. And make no mistake, disowned traits are toxic. When you don’t do your share of the work, that leaves it for others to do for you. Asking men to own their disowned parts is what the current theme of persephone is about; by refusing to be a fantasy figure enslaved to act out disowned fantasies, persephone frees us all. This issue of power dynamics is what current themes of toxic masculinity are really about, and power dynamics are not limited to gender disparity. It extends to all areas where power disparity is a dynamic, such as race and religion.

Shaming of conscious or non-conscious power abuse is an unfortunate consequence of the anger at victimization. But it is quite frankly understandable. I agree that shaming isn’t helpful, but we also wouldn’t hold it against a victim of sexual assault, for example, if that person shamed their perpetrator in anger, would we? The anger is an understandable part of the dynamic of power abuse. But yes, it continues a power dynamic of disparity, and no, it isn’t the victims fault. Yet shame does keep us from having conversations that promote solutions, that promote connection, a different kind of social dynamic altogether.

So what is the answer? Not reverse shaming, I will say that much. Naming a shitty power dynamic, such as toxic masculinity, is not the same thing as denial, such as equating admission of any fault with castration. Just because some masculinity is toxic doesn’t mean that all masculinity is toxic. But a narcissist might think so. Admitting any vulnerability is admitting inferiority in a world that is about power. But in a world that is about communication and connection, that’s just called listening.

  3. Thanks for another excellent post and video, dear Marina! Your analysis of the Persephone archetype and the dark side of Regulus in Virgo seems spot on, especially with the current furore about the so-called “Islamic-State Bride” demanding to return to the UK. Be interesting to see if the government listens to the people on this one….!
On the personal level, I’m often affected by New and Full Moons generally (emotionally speaking – was very interested in your “Are We Moon Food?” post!), but think this may be particularly intense, due my having Sun at 0 degrees Virgo and Saturn at 3 degrees Virgo. Do you think the Uranus trine will be beneficial for breaking free of problem that have held me back for way too long?
I’m now going to get my Orange Carnelian crystals!
    Love and Blessings,
    Angelflower

  4. Another excellent post and video, dear Marina! What you write of the Persephone archetype and the spiritual shifts seem spot on – I was shocked (but not really surprised!) by how the mass media misrepresented the Catholic student / Native American “stand-off”! Those who watched the whole 2 hour video, not just a 30-second clip, had a VERY different view of the incident… ! Also, the destructive side of femininity and setting boundaries with love is eerily apt with the current furore over the unrepentant Islamic State “Jihadi-bride” demanding to return to the UK. Be very interesting to see if the Government listens to the people on this one or capitulate….
On a personal level, I’m often affected by New and Full Moons, generally (very interested by your post “Are We Moon Food?”), but wonder if this Full Moon may have more than usual significance for me personally, as I have Sun at 0 degrees Virgo conjunct Saturn at 3 degrees Virgo. Do you think that the trine to Uranus bodes well for being able to break free of restrictions that have held me back for way too long?
Lots of love and blessings to you. Keep up the amazing work!

  5. Hm. This one seems particularly relevant for me this time… I have a rather potentially volcanic three planets in Virgo Decan 1 to begin with…Uranus, Mars, and Pluto. I suppose it’s fortunate to be my third house so it manifests verbally rather than physically, with Virgo’s….what’s the word…precision? After reading this I’m feeling a tad apprehensive, but that may be stemming from a fear of harming others. Which oddly ties nicely with operating from a place of love and devotion. Any “outbursts” will have to be carefully planned as you point out. Failure to do so could have unwanted unintended consequences. What was it? To fail spectacularly. LOL… with Pluto (Hades) in the mix, in Virgo both now and in my natal chart, hopefully it’s an energy I’m somewhat accustomed to and be able to use constructively for the benefit of all. I’ll have to check out the rest of my placements to get better idea which way things are leaning. The carnelian photo even speaks to me as I used to use Khepri as a magical name…:) Thanks for your article!
