The Full Moon on February 22 2016 is at 3º Virgo Decan 1. The Moon in Virgo decan 1 although modest in power, is pretty good at manifestation as long as the moon is waxing. So up until this Full Moon is a powerful time for those manifesting. It can also be used for creating the means for you to be able to say bye-bye to people or situations that have been keeping you enslaved. Otherwise, after this Full Moon has peaked, the waning cycle will show up any cracks and defects in people or projects that you might have been ignoring.
Virgo generally is known for perfection, but in Virgo decan 1 if this Full Moon can’t be perfect then it will be perfectly flawed and make an artistic statement out of that fact. Healing hands can work miracles. If we are not particularly drawn to healing at this time, then this manual dexterity can work ‘miracles’ in other ways. There is a cathartic angst in very physical strumming, scribbling (like Abstract expressionism!) or just scrubbing the house like a mad person. However we use our hands, this Full Moon gives them the ability to work hard at purging toxins. Sometimes this exposure does not look pretty and in the collective (or those touched by this Full Moon) we could see some very ugly Full Moon behaviour.
Full Moon February ~ Aspects
I usually stick to an orb of 3º or less for moon aspects, but Ceres and Neptune form a tight conjunction, which functions as a super planet. They are both mind-altering and euphoric since Ceres is associated with the opium poppy and pain killers, while Neptune can be substances and activities that bring on trance-like states. I see Ceres and Neptune together as representing psychoactive plants and entheogens. Yes they can both bring deep wisdom from mother earth’s memory, but they can equally let in trickster demons, especially on a Full Moon! (See general meaning below.) This is one of the most foggiest Full Moons I have seen in a while. It doesn’t seem particularly spiky, and even the Uranus square Pluto is starting to ease off. So the only warning for this Full Moon really, is accidents due to the amount of people tripping off their faces. The psychedelic energy of this Full Moon makes operating heavy machinery very difficult. Avoid!
Moon opposite Ceres carries the theme of trauma and abandonment in children which is transmuted through creative arts. Sometimes fantasy is a way to numb the pain of abuse. Those affected by this Moon may have to kept themselves busy creating, so they don’t have to face the indifference of any mother figures in their life. The collective will have a great need to take refuge in the fantasy world of film or Sci-Fi or better still, create some fantasy of their own. The art created at this time may carry themes of abandonment or abduction.
Moon opposite Neptune The Moon can easily fall victim to Neptune because of the lunar tendency to do things unconsciously. The Moon (Public) can be very easily hypnotised by Neptune’s promise of salvation. Moon opposition Neptune is not out to deliberately deceive, though it can seem that way. This Moon can turn 180 degrees rapidly because it so rapidly absorbs opposing thoughts around it. This makes it very difficult for the collective to get a handle on what the objective truth is.
We could also consider the aspects of the Sun:
Sun conjunct Neptune makes us prone to dissolving! We can have great difficulty holding onto our ego. The boundaries between ourselves and others are blurry and we absorb the collective unconsciousness like a sponge. We can be prone to escapism and all forms of addictions. This is because at this time the physical sensitivity to the 3D world around us is so great. We long to merge with the great spirit and feel that euphoria of oneness once again.
Sun conjunct Ceres embodies many of the themes of the Persephone myth. There seem to be themes of sudden great gain or loss which forces growth. Pain is involved if we have to separate from our family for any reason. Sun with Ceres can feel scarred, betrayed or tainted by some family scandal, inheritance or ancestral trait. Those touched by this Full Moon may feel the effects of an overly cosseted childhood which leaves them ill equipped to deal with the gritty reality of the outside world.
Full Moon February Fixed Stars
El Kophrah in Ursa Major. As a constellation “It is said to give a quiet, prudent, suspicious, mistrustful, self-controlled, patient nature, but an uneasy spirit and great anger and revengefulness when roused.” Next to El Kophrah is the minor star Alpha Sextans. A sextant is a navigational instrument its “primary use is to determine the angle between a celestial object and the horizon.” Christians saw the sacred handkerchief of St Veronica in the stars of Sextans. This holy rag contained an imprint of the face of Jesus on it since pious St Veronica mopped the messiah’s brow as he was carrying his cross to his crucifixion. Such a sterling example of Virgo service and Veronica is also the patron saint of washerwomen too!
As well as the druggy influence mentioned earlier, there is also a theme of having to address some estrangement from family members which causes mourning. Therefore there could be the temptation to inflict revenge on those who have caused the separation. There could be a great temptation to numb the grief with pain killers or to escape the uncomfortable feelings by some other Neptune means. (Fantasy films, mysticism, psychedelics, alcohol.. etc)
