Aries Decan 2 ~ Mar 30 to Apr 8 (10º-20º)

Jail Breakers & Simmering Queens

Aries decan 2 is ruled by the Sun (Triplicity Leo). The Sun firmly leads the way through this decan from March 31 to April 9. This is where Aries gets regal, for here we have the King, the Princess, a Sea Monster, a furnace, a Dragon and a Star Measurer. These people follow no leaders and work best as their own boss or taking command over others.

Aries decan 2 desperately wants to shine and be respected for rising to the top of their field. They can be seen as quite ruthless in pushing past those they perceive are holding them back from their ultimate throne, but that is a misconception! This decan simply lacks the charm to sugar-coat its instructions and doesn’t bother to conceal its ambitious maneuvers like more sneaky-minded decans. What you see is what you get.

This decan can be brutally honest which can get Aries decan 2 into trouble even if it’s in the best interests of those they are trying to direct. Despite the rulership of the Sun, this decan is not so ego-driven as you might think, but they do have to be their own sovereign. In traditional astrology, the Sun is exalted in Aries.

Austin Coppock calls this decan “The Crown” and says “Applied magically, this decan has tremendous power. It is the power to generate the world of your choosing and to be its sovereign. It is the key to creating realities that do not obey the laws of the collective reality field in which they exist.” [1]

Aries decan 2 have a horror of being chained down to anything, needing absolute freedom to fly where they will. If you try to restrict them in any way, you will experience some of this decan’s flaming hot temper. The Furnace and the Sea Monster here can bring rages out of nowhere; usually triggered by someone trying to restrict their movement in some way.

Controlling Aries decan 2’s whereabouts is a huge ‘no-no.’ Try telling your teenage ram she is grounded if you want to witness an exploding oven (Fornax!). They will do anything, anything, to escape, so daring feats like breaking out of a second-floor bedroom window are not unknown. Aries decan 2 is the ultimate in being oppositional to prove a point, no one is going to take away their sovereignty! They will rally round the troops to defend their rights and have the uncanny knack of getting everyone on their side at a moments notice…..

Aries decan 2 make efficient bosses, activists and fundraisers, winning respect and support easily. People feel that their cause is safe with them since these rams ooze such capability and assurance. Aries decan 2 keep a close eye on their competitors though, always checking to see how they measure up to their rivals. Sometimes this makes them very self-conscious, other times they can get accused of being egotistical.

However, it means that the quality of their products is excellent. The combination of Aries fire-cracking enthusiasm and the Sun’s creativity ensures they are high achievers if they can stick with a project long enough. The only danger is that these sizzlers might burn themselves out too quickly.

The Sun ruling this decan can make them seem similar to their fellow fire buddies in Leo, and in fact, this is the Leo decan of Aries in the triplicity system. However there are no refined pussycats here, these ‘cats’ are raw, sometimes crude and can even be downright vulgar. They don’t put on airs and graces and they don’t really need to be worshipped and adored either. They do expect you to respect their authority however and do not like to be  ‘dicked around’.

The constellation Cepheus here is a bit of a dour king and can be a bit brusque. Its influence insures Aries decan 2 doesn’t suffer fools gladly, it just doesn’t have the patience! Constellation Andromeda connects with Papa Cepheus, being the unfortunate daughter whom Pops tied to a rock in order to save his kingdom. Efficient yes, sympathetic parent, no… Aries decan 2 tends to believe in the Spartan school of parenting.

Aries decan 2 will experience wilder teenage years than most. However when their own children play-up they come across as super-strict, probably because they remember only too well what frolics they themselves got up to. Those Aries decan 2’s with planets placed close to the whale stars may be a little more laid back than their neighbours, but they are still liable to spout off on occasion.

Two monsters here and the chemical furnace or Fornax could mean that there is the tendency for these folk to project their inner rage onto others and they may come across as passive-aggressive. Aries decan 2 can sometimes attract violent reactions to their peaceful but firm leadership, while some of Aries decan 2 have a very steamy sexuality brimming under a cool, aloof exterior. Simmering is the word.

The Tarot card associated with Aries decan 2 is the three of wands. Karmically this card’s primary meaning is that of travel and liberating yourself from a painful situation in a past life. “Whatever you have been working on has taken off and the results are beginning to show. The future looks bright and rosy from where you are standing.

The Three of Wands brings with it a sense of personal power and becoming aware of your place in the world. It is a time of wonderful growth and personal development. You are ready to spread your wings and take on the whole world.” ~ Teachmetarot. You can see that now the season has established itself Aries 2 is secure in itself and is ready to shine ...

Aries Decan 2 ~ Fixed Stars

ETA CETUS ~11º, THETA CETUS ~ 16º and TAU CETUS ~ 17º are a few stars in Cetus the Whale or Sea Monster. Cetus was sent to devour poor Andromeda and is said to have Saturnian qualities to add to the Solar authoritarian feel of this decan. This means that some of Aries decan 2 will like to sit back and command others, rather than doing the running around themselves. The constellation of Cetus “is said to cause laziness and idleness, but to confer an emotional and charitable nature, with the ability to command, especially in war. Makes one amiable, prudent..”

Aries Decan 2 ~ Angles & Planets

Sun Aries 2

Alderamin 12º ~ ” To be a person who identifies themselves with an idea and works toward its protection or propagation. To be noted for one’s dignity and honour.” [7].
Alpheratz  14º ~ “Honor, preferment and favours from others.” [5] “ If connected to the Sun, the native can easily become unpopular and can be toppled over.” [4] “Independent and freedom-loving. To be self-employed, or otherwise free to dictate the contents of one’s day.” [6]
Aries 2 traits

The Sun is exalted in this decan so it does supremely well here as you can tell by the many superstars with this placement. Whether the proximity to Alpheratz has the effect of making the subject unpopular is debatable, as here are some examples of those who have the Sun conjunct Alpheratz: Eddie Murphy (00′), Doris Day (09′) Marlon Brando (10′), Max Ernst (25′), Helmut Kohl (34′), Robert Downey Jr (56′), Serge Gainsbourg (1º 05′), Camila Paglia (1º09′), Emile Zola (1º11′), Debbie Reynolds (1º17′), Agnetha Faltskog (1º30′)

Maybe they have yet to be toppled or other aspects in their chart give them some protection from this potential. My theory here is that these folk are no wallflowers, so you either love or hate them. Exaltation has the effect of making someone almost too good to be true.

It may be that these folk suffer in their private lives when they cannot live up to the god/goddess image they project onto the silver screen.Maybe we don’t get to see how unpopular they are on an everyday level. The exaltation degree of Aries 19º may offer some protection since it is found in this decan. Austin Coppock mentions the great leadership quality here but also see’s extremes. He says that these subjects “possess the ability to create a reality and impose it on the world around them. Those with heavily afflicted Suns will feel the opposite is true and may feel trapped in worlds, not of their making. It is of great importance that these natives strive to uncover their true nature, for it is there that their lost power resides.” [1]

Agnetha from the 1970’s super group ABBA, lived her life as a recluse from 1989 to 2004, had a stalker and has only recently returned to singing, though she still shuns publicity. Her Sun opposes Neptune (08′) and is trined by Pluto (45′) on the AC (00′). So I believe you really need to look at what these exalted Suns connect to, as this will modify the interpretation.
