Susan Miller of Astrology Zone is an American astrologer from New York. When she was a child, Susan Miller spent a lot of time bedridden due to a painful leg disease, and it was during this time that she starting learning astrology from her mother, herself an astrologer. Now Susan Miller is the most famous and most popular astrologer in the USA, and ranks alongside Jonathan Cainer as the most popular horoscope writer in the world. Susan has a degree in business from New York University and this has no doubt helped her reach the top of a very competitive field.
Susan Miller’s horoscopes are published on her website astrologyzone.com, plus she writes books, newspaper colums, and is a regular on mainstream TV and radio. The picture below of Susan was taken from her recent appearance on the CBS network with her astrological predictions for 2012. I am going to have a look at Susan’s own natal horoscope and see if there are any indicators showing why she is a world leader in the field of astrology.
Susan Miller Horoscope
Susan was born on March 7 1947 at 10:30 am in Manhattan, New York [1]. The thing which stands out when you take a look at Susan’s chart below is that Uranus is rising (on the Ascendant), square the Sun, Ceres and Mercury. This is what I want to focus on, but will also look at the other major aspect which is Venus opposite Saturn.
Uranus is the modern ruler of astrologer and having this planet rising does mean that Susan personifies this eccentric planet. Being different from the crowd is something most astrologers feel and with Uranus rising, Susan would always have had something offbeat about her life. Fortunately the star on the Ascendant is Rigel in constellation Orion, and when rising on the eastern horizon at birth as it was for Susan, Robson said it gives “Good fortune, preferment, riches, great and lasting honors“. Uranus here also mean that this honor and wealth had to come through some field out of the ordinary, and astrology is the perfect expression.
However, with Uranus rising in a tense and challenging square aspect to the Sun, Mercury and Ceres, there must have been many challenges along the way toward success. Squares are difficult but all the trials they bring do make us perfect something, and in Susan’s case we can see that she is now very confident and comfortable expressing her unique identity. Sun square Uranus people “stand out from the crowd in an obvious way… the tension of the square aspect pushes these people to achieve brilliance in creative self expression…of a different kind“.
Sun conjunct Mercury makes for excellent communication skills which are shown through all the different media, TV, radio, books, papers and the internet. Interestingly, while Uranus is the modern ruler of astrology, Mercury is the tradition ruler.
Sun conjunct Ceres relates more to personal and family issues which I will not go into detail about. It relates to family, mothering issues and some pain in childhood. This may have something to do with the early health related struggles. Another big indicator of unhappiness, especially earlier in life is Venus opposite Saturn. This can bring separation, isolation, inhibition and generally a slow start. I have this aspect myself and can attest that Saturn is a late bloomer.
Venus on the fixed star Dabih in constellation Capricorn is a bit melancholic, just like Venus opposite Saturn. This star rules the center of the calf of the left leg [2], and it was circulatory problems in the left leg that hospitalized Susan when she was a child [3]. Saturn constricted Venus though the tight opposition. But like I mentioned, Saturn comes good and now Susan expresses this tough opposition beautifully. Saturn is the teacher, the wise mentor. She teaches her love (Venus) which is astrology. In fact Susan’s weekly astrological advice column for the The New York Daily News was called ”Signs of Love” [4].
The Moon is conjunct the fixed star Alkes in the constellation of Crater which gives good mental abilities and a life of eminence. Marina found that “Alkes can be a gift, something precious carried by an individual to past down generations through the genes, like artistic, musical or psychic ability. Alkes’ talent is usually of a Neptunian nature.” How interesting that the Moon rules the mother and Susan’s mom passed on the love of astrology.
The eminence from the Moon comes though the astrology, but it is the Midheaven which most describes the career. The star on the Midheaven is in Nashira in constellation Capricorn “It causes overcoming by evil, which is turned to success (the health crisis in childhood leading to the study of astrology)…this star will make a native become a legal adviser or counselor and will give such a person the ability to hold a position of trust. This star makes for integrity and justice and gives a knowledge of man.”
