Solar Eclipse June 2011 – Parallel Lives

The June 1 2011 Solar Eclipse is at 11 degrees Gemini and on the Fixed Star Aldebaran. Its is also trine Saturn. This is a heavy-weight, foundation-building Moon and a very special eclipse because Alderbaran is one of the royal stars.

NEW! Podcast version of this blog plus the June forecast.

The chart picture suggests construction time. The parallel lines look like a rail road track, with the masons set-square lying across it. It could also be two lines of parallel fate because they are both very different destinies. The eclipse trine is the traditional route, the habits we have built up over generations.

The Moon trine Saturn is the ingrained mindset we inherit. Our internal Mum and Dad. This trine wants to cuddle up on the sofa, munch the harvest and maintain the status quo. It’s a materialist aspect and Saturn is as material as you can get. It is the crystalliser, dense, solid and secure. This side of the Eclipse is like a fortress padded with layers of wadding internally. It’s the perfect protection from the big bad world.

The parallel fate is symbolised by Ceres square the North Node of the Moon, which is conjunct fixed star Ras Alhague in the snake charmer. The square is Martian, dynamic and proactive, Ceres is on Markab in the wing of Pegasus “The constellation gives ambition, vanity, intuition, enthusiasm, caprice and bad judgment”. [1] So Ceres is looking rather reckless here. Ceres can be about great loss or great gain, so this is a gambler. Of course the myth of Pegasus was that his rider did reach for the stars, but then fainted at the last hurdle. Pegasus though continued and got there in the end. Now Pegasus was born out of the blood of Medusas head (Algol) and last Moon was opposed Algol, which spoke of deposing heads of state or religion. Pegasus reached the stars without his rider, (his ego or boss). Pegasus inherits the spirit of it’s Lilith Star mother, Algol. So this horse is a renegade and agnostic. All the stars in Pegasus all share a certain amount of hubris. This parallel fate learns to get to Heaven without the aid of a priest.

North Node in Ophuichius

We have also had a spate of Saturnian moons, which have been all about authority figures and how we relate to them. The way we relate to our society (Saturn/MC) stems from how we see Mum. Interestingly the Hubers count Saturn as a feminine planet and this actually makes sense since the Saturn ruled 10th house is also the house of the Mother. The mother is usually the child’s first experience of discipline.

So Ceres is like the alternative mother, the angry wounded mother who has lost her precious daughter. She is the woman scorned. The square here brings out this side of her and so does the North Node since it is on Ras Alhague the snake charmer in our rejected 13th sign, the constellation Ophuichus. So This side of the track is essentially, the wrong side of the tracks. That Ceres square North Node here is the disenfranchised, the exiled, it is the angry mob.

So back to the other side of the tracks. We have the elite, the royal star Aldebaran born with a silver spoon in its mouth. Is the fat cow going to fiddle while Rome burns or will it get off its lazy arse and invest that trine into something worthy? How those bulls like to hoard and procrastinate… According to Robson Aldebaran give great riches and honor, good fortune and all the nice Venusian treats, but danger of disgrace and ruin. Bernadette Brady says all Royal Stars have this risk of falling from a great height if their power is used for selfish motives. For Alderbaran this means its imperative to act with integrity.

So he we have things being spelt out incredible clearly at this eclipse. The rich and poor divide. Are the elite going to help those less fortunate? Of course this can also be East and West, Muslims and Christians, left-wing and right-wing, Male and female… The theme is polarites.

The last solar eclipse on Aldebaran was May 31 2003, 9.20 Gemini. If this eclipse is hitting you strongly then it might be useful to find out if anything significant happened back then. So far the theme seems to be that of building foundations for the future, but in a way that incorporates all castes and creeds of people. In our personal life this means an all embracing lifestyle that does not ghetto-ize. Not locking ourselves away in our ivory towers, and being brave enough to cross the tracks and mix with other cultures and religions. Maybe the last time it hit you were on the wrong side of the tracks and this time you are in a better position to help those less fortunate.

Alderbaran

Jamie quoted in his Jupiter Yod 2012 Nick at The Lunar Planner Forum, “Aldebaran holds the vision for global leaders and world servers inspiring the administrative planning of world affairs, specifically for physical logistics and a global infrastructure designed to support humanity through evolutionary unfoldment and global change.”

This fits very well with what I was talking about earlier. The rebuilding. And what happens at this Moon may give clues to what the Jupiter Yod 2012 means for humanity since that Jupiter will also be on Aldebaran. I note that in that Yod Lilith is also conjunct Lilith. I think these two charts are linked somehow. The card I picked for the Eclipse is “The High Priestess” which is also very apt as this is the number II card, is ruled by the Moon and she is often depicted infront of two pillars. Two parallel lines!

“The High Priestess” urges us to be aware of symbols, dreams, the aches and pains of our bodies and our instincts and gut reactions. This also relates back to taking the parallel fate road. It is the road less traveled ad we do have to feel our way using senses that might feel alien to us. We have to see with a different sort of vision as we have no guidelines. Taurus is a very sensual archetype, it feels good in nature and takes strength from the earth.

Both these parallel paths are the same but different. The key is to realizing they have more in common than they realize. Sensual, Taurean, Alderbaran Moon listens to authoritative Saturn. While running along side them is a voluptuous, Virgoan, Ceres being guided by the hubris of Pegasus on the North Node.

This looks like fertile ground from which to grow. Both sides want to lay down foundations and build on them. So there are a few options:
1) Build two separate structures and maintain the polarity.
2) Build one massive structure, which then gets torn apart by the polarity.
3) Build two separate structures with a corridor linking the two. Accepting and incorporating the polarity.
It worked for Frida Khalo and Diego Rivera!

This eclipse is going to be very interesting, but it will be quite 12th house for me, where my Persephone is (12 degrees).. hiding away.. perhaps she will be shut away more.. perhaps she will come out into the light?

I add that my mother’s birthday is on the 28th of May and my husband’s the 23rd, but I think its more effective for my mother.. (and the theme of Ceres goes on, and so does Persephone)

I think the July 1, eclipse on my birthday will be even more interesting.

    Yes! Solar Eclipse Forecast.

    Very Very cool.

The solar eclipse in July at 20 Cancer was conjunct my ascendant. I spent that cycle producing a story that I wrote (Castor) into a television pilot for my final university project.

The chair of my program, set up an industry breakfast where we can network and shop our projects around. Its happening on June 1st. This eclipse is conjunct my Pholus in the 11th, and trine Pallas in the 8th. And my sun is conjunct the ascendant for the event chart.

I guess I’ll have to wait and see what comes of this.

Here’s a link to my project if anyone’s interested :) http://vimeo.com/21331265 . Its student produced, so not perfect, but I’m proud of it.

    • Marina says:

Great when these Eclipses produce great things! Well done. Liked the video. Sun conjunct AC looks good. Pholus was the boozy Centaur wasn’t he? Don’t know much about him. Good opportunity to see what it means for you.

      • Nate says:

Just read your orb comment below. The eclipse is also opposed my sun by 4 degrees. What does that usually entail?

        • Jamie says:

We have started writing up brief interps on transits so it would be good if you let us know how it goes for you, Sun opposite Sun transit.

          • Nate says:

Yeah, I will for sure. I find that interpretation bit too negative for me. My experience of oppositions has been pretty positive. Unless its a super intense one that involves saturn, pluto, or chiron. I remember two years ago I had a sun-sun opposition and I got to hear an amazing speech from KRS-1, a very intelligent and progressive hip hop artist. I believe mercury was involved as well.

My experience of oppositions is that they can be quite beneficial. Especially if you’ve balanced yourself out from the inside and have gone beyond ego identification and the habit of resisting what arises in the present moment.

            • Jamie says:

That’s the sort of stuff I want to hear. Marina has the same opinion on oppositions as you. That’s why I’m keeping these interps brief and hoping people will add their experiences so we get a better picture of what they mean. I had the last lunar eclipse square my Sun but am waiting till that effect is eclipsed by the next lunar eclipse to write what it felt like.

            • Nate says:

Yeah, it makes me think of Jeff Green’s ‘Pluto: the evolutionary cycle of the soul’. I find the effect of transits are strongly influenced by an individuals maturity level. For example there are low saturn vibrations and high saturn vibrations. I just noticed about a month ago, that my progressed sun has been conjunct Pluto for a while now and they both square mars in the 10th. I found the previous eclipse cycle to be one of immense intensity and authority within my peer group that I had to use correctly. I was transformed through the experience, but it was very positive over all. There were a lot of negative parts and challenges but I attribute them more to SR Pluto conjunct N Saturn and Square SR Saturn.

This will take at least two more readings for all the aspects to be considered but this is/nicely presented.
First impression was with the polarities=the opposites. The ruler and ruled is quite apparent these days… but feeling secure is not enjoyed by either- not with all the damage to the environment taking place. Read an article about some who can afford it already moving South of the equator. Tend to think that any bridge between the two polarities will be built by the rulers and have an admission ticket come with it to present the new programs. Not so sure about rights but perhaps some priviledges will be offered. Least wise this eclipse will not be taking place separated from other positions already established. But sounds as if some old worn out modes of behavior may need to be discarded by ruler and ruled= to make way for the new… but need to read again…

  4. Jim Hoagland says:

well from the second reading it is clear our perceptions differ which could be conceived as certain type of polarity that could be “synthesized”- blended. But of necessity there would be some sparks… which can be growing and expanding if maturely approached.
As a hint to the different perceptions playing here- “Ceres square the North Node is the disenfranchised, the exiled, the angry mob.”
The angry mob is not exactly a mob- usually typed casted as “mindless and without structure (anarchy). The “mob” is the developing resistence to oppression and misleadership. Anger which is always dangerous on a spiritual level is in the mundane quite righteous as a reaction to life threantening and suppressive “new programs” being presented..which are not so new but a reactuionary rehash of past repressions. So maybe this is something that can get “rehabed” if exposed, seen for what it is and a more enlightened approach develops= synthesis..in a humane effort.
Another point is the “yearning to get to heaven without the aid of a priest”. Pointing to the failure of organized religion – clear agreement on that BUT doing it yourself or your own way is clearly ego centric. Pegasus lossing his rider, and the not seeking a priest can be joined in the attiude of not wanting or accepting a guide- or the wisdom of a higher developed being– which in a more enlightened world could be the Mother or parental authority.
But this presentation is excellent because it does give a lot of food for thought and helps in the development of ideas and concepts. So this is very much appreciated.

Yes I agree, that was what I meant by the angry mob. Great point about DIY enlightenment. We do need guides and often throw the baby out with the bathwater when we disown religion. I think we sort of find our guides around us on the net actually. I have been inspired a lot by the intereaction on this site, but it would be nice to find a mentor in the 3D world too.

Interesting what you said about people moving to the southern hemisphere. I can’t imagine Europe becoming a ghost town. All the beautiful buildings and the history overgrown. Weird.

      • Jim Hoagland says:

Marina- I apologize for not responding sooner. I was actually uplifted that you responded to me the way you have. I see in your presentations an openness that allows and encourages discussion and sharing. This has such an oasis type of affect in the general atmosphere.
In your writings is a grasp of the development of the misrepresentations of the Feminine throughout history. You use astrological history in particular but this is not at all separated from the general ideology prevailing through the age. Now this ideology and its misconceptions are being called upon for correction by the cosmos itself.
The most profound philosophy, which I am fortunate to have discovered says in a practical way to apply virtues to our daily life. Astrology is useful for gaining insights into particular challenges which may be experienced in a given moment. But still while there are trends and pressures we still individually choose to do what we do. We may feel at a given instant “no choice but to…”; however we can choose to change our circumstance and we can choose to live our life in another way.
One of my key insights I have received has to do with the Divine Feminine. For Christian wording- the Holy Spirit is none other than God the Mother. This is the Devi in Yoga. This is Shakti, Uma, Durga or Lakshmi- or within the human body the Kundalini.
So I offer you this as a token of appreciation-
“That which was not in the beginning and which will cease to be after a time, how can that be regarded as truth? That alone can be regarded as the truth which has always been and which will always be.” (Vasistha’s Yoga-On Dissolution- V.5)
“Love the Shakti and honor your Self. Meditate within. Meditate on the inner Shakti by whose power you consider yourself “you”. Meditate on Her by whose grace you love each other and surrender your souls to one another as husband and wife. The gracious and divine Shakti lives in both of you as your very own form…”
(Muktananda- Play of Consciousness, Chapter I)

  5. Silvana says:

This eclipse is combust my sun at 10’57 gemini…..and my moon is not far behind it at 3’07 gemini…..and mercury at 18’53 gemini……curious to see how it will manifest……Silvana……

  6. Ed_Gemini says:

this is eclipse is conjunct my natal mercury in my 4th house Gemini (which is also my sun sign), opposite my natal mars in Sagittarius 10th house, and trine my natal ceres in 12th house Aquarius.

maybe this will be the period (within 6 months) that I lose the house (since I am still unemployed). don’t really know what to expect at this point.

    • Belgian LobsterScorp says:

Hi Ed, I justed wanted to let you know I completely understand your feeling, since I am in the same position of being unemployed and seriously wondering whether I will be able to keep the house … can’t give you much advice or a magic trick (what about transiting NN in Saggi?), but maybe it helps to know you are not alone in your thought process here ;-) Wishing you a bright breakthrough any time soon. Maybe you just get “eclipsed” out of your house – from 9 to 5 sort of way, in the sense that you will be taking up a new position, after June 1st! Keep the Saggi faith concerning the intuitive flow that might occur in the 10th. Greetings, Elke from Belgium.

      • Ed_Gemini says:

        Elke,

thank you for your kind sentiment. it never cease to amaze me to find people who are kind enough to stop and offer some kinds words.

I hope that you’re right that I would be “eclipsed” out of the house and into a job! there’s always hope that it can happen. the series of eclipses in the Gemini – Sagittarius axis could very well bring me a new job since it is my 4th and 10th house axis. transiting nn in sagi is already in my 10th house – maybe that’ll turn out to be good for me.

I hope that good fortune comes your way as well my friend!

      • Marina says:

“Maybe you just get “eclipsed” out of your house – from 9 to 5 sort of way, in the sense that you will be taking up a new position, after June 1st!”
I agree with you Belgian LobsterScorp. Ed_Gemini why do you think Eclipses bring loss? The Betelgeuse Eclipse on my Part OF Fortune has been the best ever in terms of fortune. I don’t want it to end!
If this eclipse is triggering you Mercury, that is great for study (in the home-4th house), learning new skills. Maybe you will retrain which will put you in a better position for a new job. This is about adding another string to your bow, an alternative path.

        • Ed_Gemini says:

          hi marina,

most of what I’ve read about eclipses tells of “crisis” and “showing of a weak point in the house where the eclipse occurs.”

I sure hope that the eclipse on my natal mercury would bring a retraining of some sort – that would mean a new job. it is curious though that the north node has started transiting my 10t house and the last time this occurred, I went back to college.

maybe my reaction to this article is brought about venus and mercury conjuncting my natal saturn (in third house) which had just occurred and triggered depressing thoughts.

it seems that I’m starting to become more negative now a days.

    • Jamie says:

Sun conjunct Mercury transit does suggest buying and selling, so your intuition seems right. But this should be a favourable eclipse being trine Saturn so it will hopefully work out better than you think at the moment.

      • Ed_Gemini says:

I don’t know if selling the house would be ideal, the housing market in the US is still terrible and I will not be able to sell the house for what I bought it for.

maybe sell some other assets in order to make ends meet. I’m sure that one way or another, something will break me out of this rut soon.

        thanks Jamie.

  7. Chris says:

    Hi Marina and Jamie,
I was wondering (and I suspect you have already answered this one, so forgive me for asking again :) )
what orb of influence do you both use?
Thinking about my own 1st house Saturn 16deg gemini…

    • Marina says:

I generally give 2.30 degs. I would give more for the natal Sun, Moon or angles, possibly 5 degs?

Jamie is the lunation transit guy so I’d double check with him, but Id say this is not too strong an influence on your Saturn. Have a look and see if you have an Asteroid or Midpoint closer. I think it would be more revealing.

    • Jamie says:

Yeah, I give eclipses bigger orbs than other transits, especially for conjunctions and to the Sun, Moon and angles. The tighter the orb the stroger the effect obviously. I see this effect as a bell curve.

  8. Ros says:

    Hi Marina

Thanks for this insightful article – my natal Chiron is at 8 degrees Gemini opposition Uranus so I’ve been eager to learn more about this eclipse! I can’t pinpoint any major events back then in 2003 so I’m hoping it will be okay. The summer eclipses are looking quite intense – the June 15 lunar eclipse is conjunct my vertex, neptune and mars and the July 1st is conjunct my progressed moon – still a beginner so not sure how intense that will be but I’m learning so much through your site so thank you!

  9. lucy says:

that’s an awful lot of weight on one side, it may pull plasma from a solar-flare in, cause quakes in the northern hem, tilt ours, NM wait 3 days.

    • Marina says:

Its been that way for a while hasnt it?, might explain all the even wilder tornados than usual in the us and now we have another volcano going off in iceland.

      • lucy says:

Marina, yep did you notice they started when Aquarius moon, (5/22) gave aspect, (energy), my mom’s birthday as a child I thought she was causing the destructive thunderstorms that came down the river, (one burned the top 1/2 of our house) early gemini/sag is a weak earth, very little protection and we have cardinal air/libra to dominate…. probably illogical, but I think it’s sat./libra’s is leveling large swaths of the US to balance the destruction we wrought on Libia, hurricane katrina/rita paid for Iraq. US chart is having a sat/return and all that trans taurus/mercury/venus/mars conq. taurus can be destructive as well as creative and very angry. an angry last house of loss in the US gemini rising chart

  10. manon says:

    Thanks for this article.
I’m feeling a little anxious as this solar eclipse will be conjunct my Saturn at Gem 12’02. And then the next lunar eclipse will be opposite my Sun at Gem 27’17.
Is all hell going to break loose? This year has already been very intense, even though not much has actually happened!

    • Nate says:

Look at how your saturn is aspected. That’ll determine it. The eclipse could also just mean lots of hard work/responsibilities ahead.

      • Jamie says:

Good advice, and remember this is a positive eclipse being trine Saturn. So if it is conjunct your Saturn, you also have the positive stabilizing effect of Saturn trine your Saturn.

Having said that I am a little concerned myself. This eclipse is square my Moon by 10′ and conjunct my Lilith by 05′. Last time I had that in 2003 I ended up destitute and living in abandoned buidlings, all my possession in one bag on my shoulder. Half of that was astrology books! At least this time around Saturn will be trine my Lilith, though conjunct my South Node.
