On the 5th of August in the US we had the Full Moon at 14 degs Aquarius. It happened to fall on the Asteroid Psyche or Psycho even, as it turned out! Asteroid Psyche represents the principle of being psychically atuned and bonded to another human being.

Through following the path of Psyche, conscious relationship provides the path to spiritual illumination. So this moon is highlighting everyman’s yearning for that mystic, soulmate union. Again we are talking merging and surrender..

But merging and surrender is scary. It feels like you are being sucked back into the womb. This can be an extremely frightening prospect. It feels like death. The night before this soulmate-yearning Full moon on Psyche we had the George Sodini shooting:

“George Sodini walked into a gym in Pittsburgh and gunned down 3 young women before killing himself. Suicidal suspect George Sodini complained he’d had “no sex since July 1990″ and blamed his parents, his siblings – even his preacher – for the fact that “girls and women don’t even give me a second look ANYWHERE.” Sodini dismissed his dad as a “useless sperm donor.” He raged against his “useless bully” brother. He called his mother “The Central Boss.” He blasted his former pastor.” CNN.

On the night of the shooting Asteroid Lilith was applying to a conjunction with the Sun and therefore also opposing the moon. Lilith rules whores and the Moon rules mothers. So this full moon has a Mother V Whore flavour.
I wanted to study Sodini’s chart to see why he would do such a thing. His main gripe seems to be that he couldn’t get a lady. He was apparently a successful business man and not completely unattractive. On the surface he didn’t look like a guy who would repel women. I had a feeling he might’ve been impotent.

Jamie rectified Sodinis chart to give him ASC at 2 degrees Leo.

Moon Yod

Sodini has a Yod. I have a rather unique way of interpreting it. I call it a Chariot. Apex being the horse while the sextile planets are the drivers. So Sodini’s horse is the needy, emotional and moody moon. This energy is what’s driving the Yod forward. Pluto quincunx Moon, Hades Moon. Obsessive with women, Mars quincunx Moon. Rage at the mother

The drivers are a 12th house mars, which is hiding himself and has buried his sexuality. Interestingly Black Moon Lilith is locked up there also… So his sexual drives are hard to access. Driver 2 is an obsessive Pluto in the bossy 2nd house. A provocative and stubborn bully fueling a needy mars that is full of childish rage.

So this horse is desperate to move to a loving woman. This Yod is emphatically pointing to a relationship. But his brazen drivers are undermining each other efforts to move the chariot forward in a way that will not scare potential partners. Instead the chariot moves forward in a kinda crazed desperate haphazard way. Pluto sextile Mars. Too hot to handle!

So what happens if this horse just cannot move forward towards a relationship. The horse stalls, frustrated drivers beat the poor horse forward. But the horse can go no where. The raging marsy child and the bulling obsessive Pluto scream at each other in frustration. They goad each other to extremes. There is nowhere for this rage to go but to beat that horse/moon/women to death. Then left with each other, Mars and Pluto implode.

Medusa

This is just part of the picture. I had been researching Black Moon Lilith and on my travels came across the Medusa myth. The angry stare of Medusa that turns men to stone out of fear, can be seen as a metaphor for impotence.

From Demetria George’s Mysteries of the Dark Moon. Page 168.
“Medusa, as a devouring female monster, represents the dread of the irrational and fear of annihilation by unconscious forces. While the masculine may desire to sink back and dissolve into the pleasure of the womb, this is seen as a regressive trend to the development of the male ego.

The hero needs to slay the monster in order to prevent his return to the feminine uroboric unity and to free himself from the mother in the unconscious. The violence to the feminine is a reaction to the pull of the mother.

The Hero’s path of individuation necessitates a movement away from the soul, represented by the dark instinctual feminine.. He is aided in this quest by the impetus of the spirit emboded by the light, rational masculine, or the great father archetype”

But Sodini did not have a great father archetype as a role model it seems. I put the Asteroid Medusa in his chart to find it closely conjunct his Sun. This devouring mother sucking at his ego, his weak father? In the house of siblings.

Did his bullying brother take on the father role since his “Sperm donor” of a father seems to have been overpowered by the “central boss” mother. And this Medusa/Sun squares his Mars (sexuality) which is hard to access in the 12th. Impotence? This Medusa/Sun also makes an aspect to Chiron (Childhood wounds) in the 8th house of Sex. Ouch!

The Shooting

On the night of the shooting. Transiting Venus (women) is squaring Sodini’s Medusa/Sun as well as conjuncting natal Mars (Yod driver) Not only that transiting Medusa is transiting his 5th house of lovers and influencing his thoughts (Semi-sextiling natal Mercury) In the sky Medusa is getting some courage by being in trine with Uranus, sparking revolutonary action.

Then we have the soon to be eclipsing moon opposing Asteroid Lilith (The woman who rejected Adam, therefore representing ALL spurning women) in the sky. This opposition is lying across his AC/DC axis and puts Lilith within orb to the reaction point of his Yod. Yet another trigger. Finally transiting Vertex is bang on the Pluto driver of his Yod. The planet of death steps through a doorway to another dimension. Well he killed himself too.

When something as shocking as the Sodini shooting makes the news and we get to read his very disturbing diary, we must wonder what the wider implications are for this very specific hate/rage crime against women. And what the root cause of it is.
