The current Mercury rx dates are from 28 April to 22 May. Mercury travels between 23º Taurus back to 14º Taurus. The retrograde starts dramatically with Mercury stationing in alignment with fixed star Capulus. Found in the slaying arm of Perseus, Bernadette Brady says Capulus is overtly male sexual energy and very phallic. It’s a kind of nemesis brother star to Algol in Medusa’s head which Perseus holds in his other hand.
Capulus isn’t a very bright star, but it’s mythology is strong and adds to our understanding of Taurus decan 3. Mercury retrograde doesn’t go back as far as Algol at 26º Taurus, but get’s close! Capulus can be the mirror of Algol, so there will be quite a bit of projection and demonising going on. On May 9 there is a nice respite from the Mercury madness. A grounding grand earth trine with Sun cazimi Mercury at 19º Taurus.
This could be quite an auspicious moment and I like the other legs of the trine too. Pluto on Vega at 17º Capricorn and the North Node at 18º Virgo. Jupiter happens to be stationing direct on that day too, nearby at 13º Virgo. A pyramid of pentacles for some perhaps? Jupiter trine Pluto is said to be the millionaires aspect and reminds me of the Ace Of Pentacles card, so it could symbolise a reward, promotion or even an engagement for Earth decan 2 signs.
In Taurus Decan 3 ~ 28 April to May 8 2016
“Learning from ones mistakes” and the “uncomfortable truth” just about sums up Mercury Rx here. Those aspected by this will find they are constantly faced with intellectual opposition and therefore will have to develop witty deflective responses and a thick skin to criticism at this time. However this enables much wisdom to be gathered because every theory will be put through the wringer in debates. Ideas will have to be validated the scientific way, so generally the mass media will not get away with misleading reporting or unsubstantiated statements.
Every story the media comes up with will have to be proven. Mercury here is forced to be totally honest, because a lie will be picked upon mercilessly. If those touched by this retrograde do happen to turn to anything shady, they will soon learn to remain silent when questioned. This is not a time for idle gossip, discussion is serious and joking around might even be dangerous. Those interviewed will feign frivolity only to effectively slice the questioner down with a savagely sharp sentence later on.
Mercury in this decan works like a canary in a coal mine, messengers are in tune with the consequences of actions and karma, which might mean there is a lot of bad news in the media, but the reality will hurt. Mercury Rx in Taurus 3 can bring out gritty, hard-edged communication styles which are not popular. However, later down the line we will realise this brutal honesty was actually needed.
In Taurus Decan 2 ~ May 9 to May 22 2016
My research list for Mercury Taurus 2 included natives such as Bettie Page (Fetish Model), Marquis De Sade, Dominique Strauss-Kahn (Sexually abused a maid), Dave Lee Travis (Sexual assaulted women at BBC), Madeleine McCann (Abducted aged 3) and Madeleine’s Abduction.
It was uncomfortable to re-read Taurus decan 2 after looking at that list. ”there is the sacrifice of a child in order to get ahead. Bondage, pain and sorrow can play a part in this decans life lesson in a nod to Taurus’s opposite sign of Scorpio.” Mercury rules children of course so this only accentuates the Ceres/Persephone themes that come out strongly in this decan.
Child abuse is the very worse manifestation of Mercury in this position, even if this is the Virgo decan of Taurus, which Mercury rules. But the ‘sacrifice of a child to get ahead’ could force some people to delay having children in order to focus on career. Children might be the subject of review for some couples at this time. On the positive side, those touched by this Mercury Rx will find they suddenly possess fantastic story-telling ability and are endowed with an almost magical power of speech. So get scribbling or podcasting.
Mercury also gives healing hands and manual dexterity here. There is a very fluid feeling about this decan, which can make us extremely adaptable and fleet footed. We are able to think on our toes, but it can also create fantastic liars.. Cassiopeia’s influence can make this a time when we are quite boastful and critical of others. Mercury here is not the most tactful and has opinions that can upset people. Those who are in the public eye could get involved in media scandals due to their own loose tongues.
Mercury stations direct betwixt two contrasting stars at 13º Taurus just 05′ apart. The lovely Almach in Andromedas foot “is supposed to give a cheerful nature with a liking for change, diversion and amusement.” while Robson credits Almach with “ the nature of Venus. It gives honor, eminence and artistic ability.” This star is is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the sky since it is a triple star that glows orange, emerald and blue. With that one can imagine the princess’s colourful painted toenails.
After that foot fetish, Mercury becomes serious again when we hit Menkar in Cetus, a bright orange star in the mouth of the sea-monster. With Mercury Menkar brings “Difficulties through writings, difficulty in payment of mortgages, ill-health to marriage partner or relative, destruction of crops” Cetus was actually sent to devour Andromeda by Neptune, but she was rescued by heroic Perseus. Hurrah!
So we end this retrograde period with mixed feelings; Are Andromeda’s pretty toes a distraction from ugly bunions! Is dashing young Perseus too good to be true? Is the glittering prize of the pyramid of pentacles worth being chomped by a bellicose whale? With this Mercury retrograde the truth is staring us right in the face, but it will be hard not to get bedazzled by the glitz around it. Ripping the picture out of its gilt frame might be quite a shock, but it’s the only way to see things clearly.

Mercury Rx lasts from January 5 until 26 2016. Mercury will station retrograde and direct on two important fixed stars I have written articles about; Vega and Altair. These stars are part of constellations that contain two iconic birds of prey, the Eagle and the Vulture. Interestingly, the last Mercury Retrograde was conjunct Algorab which can rule terrorism, and god knows this theme has been on our minds since the Paris Attack in November 2015. So I must admit to being quite worried about this Mercury Retrograde. This is because the chart for the Retrograde itself has Sun square Lilith activating Uranus square Pluto. Also if you include the shadow phases, Mercury will conjunct Pluto to ignite this extremist square three times.
Words Of Prey
Mercury is our minds of course, but also rules the mass media. The theme of mind-control and magic seems very strong, with Mercury/Pluto being the signature of this retrograde. Both Vega and Altair I associate with great empires like Rome who’s success can be attributed in part to the power of art and culture to shape the thoughts of the masses. The Eagle is famously a symbol for the USA, but was also used by the Nazi party. All empires know the power of symbol, with the use of art, design and glamour to seduce a nation. Hollywood works it’s magic for the US while the Nazi’s military styling (designed by Hitler himself ) worked potent sorcery on their enemy and on the moral of their troops.
Mercury square Mars is the first aspect of the retrograde period and is a call to action. It’s a pretty harsh chart and I am thankful that this did not occur through the sensitive period Christmas. It’s all squares, with just a timid Moon sextile Jupiter for relief. Lilith square Sun/Pluto square Uranus T-Square spell….Black magic? Witchcraft? Heretics? Venus square Neptune adds love delusion and a touch of the dark cupid. Moon square Ceres can be abduction and mourning. I really don’t likemaking negative assumptions, but there is no way I can sugar-coat this one! Forbidden fruit, obsession, psychopaths, heroin, psychological warfare, abuse, paedophilia, child abductions, mental cruelty, possession, slavery, female suicide bombers are all words that come to me when I looked at that chart.
Saying all that, there is no cause for alarm either. Yes I know this sounds like a contradiction, but these cosmic blueprints do not have to manifest as actual events. Instead these are themes that will obsess those natives that this Mercury retrograde touches. Just so you know, this one will conjunct both my Sun and 8th house Mercury and I’m not worried ok? Instead I am relishing the thought of writing and researching some of these taboo topics. However, since the media is so good at scaring the pants off us, they may well indeed create some false flags which play into these themes. So expect to see quite a few missing children stories or the arrest of a child killer complete with gruesome accounts of what the evil killer supposedly did.. My feeling is that any cruel and manipulative media campaign will backfire horribly, causing fury in many.
Mercury Rx January 2016
Mercury retrograde begins with Mercury square Mars from Jan 5 – 10. Mars strong in Scorpio and very militant can override whatever Mercury represents. Example; protesters at press conferences, forest fires blocking roads or overheated engines. Actually, any travel early this retrograde could well be typically problematic, especially while Mercury is still on Altair with ‘Disappointment on long journeys’ around Jan 5/6. Just give yourself plenty of time. Maybe there is traffic due to those pesky protesters. Impatience and road rage could be rife at this time.

Jan 30 Mercury conjunct Pluto
Feb 1 Mercury square Uranus, Mercury square Black Moon Lilith
Feb 6 Mercury trine Jupiter
Feb 8 Mercury trine North Node
Feb 15 Mercury out of the shadow zone at 1º Aquarius
After Jan 11 however, Mercury will trine Jupiter and the North Node which I think will be a beautifully creative time even if Mercury is technically combust due to its proximity to the Sun. Mercury will be on the inspirational Peacock star, so it will be a great time for artists and writers to showcase their work. Ideally I would pick Jan 14, the day of the cazimi since now Sun conjunct Mercury is fortunate in the throne of the king. (A conjunction under 17′.) An added bonus is Mercury also trines benefic Jupiter (conjunct the North Node.) I think this is very auspicious since Jupiter is on Alkes in the Holy Grail. This bring hope and blessings from the ancestors, so make sure you tap into their inspirational well from Jan 11 – 16. This can also feel extremely healing. Any water therapy is great at this time. Swim in the ocean if you can or go to a spa. This trine happens in the pre and post shadow too so check dates at the end of this post.
The last few days of Mercury retrograde things get fierce again as Mercury stations direct on Pluto and the T-square with Lilith is even tighter then it was at the station retrograde. At least though Mercury is no longer square Mars. Instead Mars is trine Neptune and the Sun is on Altair which is much more fortunate than Mercury being there. Sun on Altair “Public honor, notoriety, favors from superiors, many friends and some envious ones who cause trouble through writings..” This might be when the back-firing I mentioned earlier happens. The envy mentioned here could signify trolling, spiteful comments, or press smears not having the desired effect.
Mercury Direct January 2016
This is one of those retrogrades when the pen is mightier than the sword. Mercury Retrogrades are always a good time to do in-depth research and get very right-brain. This one, due to the influence of stars Vega and Altair could be very inspiring for art related to clans, family rivalry, dynasties, gangsters or tribal warfare. I’m thinking of the Borgias or ‘Game Of Thrones’… sex and violence basically. Yes very crude I know, but these subject matters seem to be endlessly appealing to masses and exploited for that reason. It maybe that at this retrograde we might have to come to terms with our cruder desires, that as sophisticated as we think we are, our lower chakras cannot be ignored. We all have Mars in our charts and those touched by this retrograde in particular will be pushed to find creative ways to channel this warrior energy, so that it doesn’t become self destructive.

September 17th – Oct 9th 2015
Mercury Rx from Sept 17 to Oct 9 2015 between 0º and 15º Libra. Mercury will travel through some important prophetic stars in the constellation of Virgo, and then through the constellation of Corvus the crafty crow. During the retrograde Mercury will square Pluto and conjunct Black Moon Lilith. There is certainly a strong occult and fated feel to the Mercury Retrograde. It feels very shifty too as Mercury stations direct while at the same time the North Node enters Virgo. Not only that but there is a blood red Lunar Eclipse at 4º Aries which throws more emphasis on the shadow. The mythology of Corvus will be activated strongly as Mercury flies over the crow’s stars three times thrice. The crow, like Mercury Rx, is a trickster with dark wings. The Corvus myth describes how Sun god Apollo sent the raven with a cup to fetch some water for god’s feast. On his way the raven was distracted by some fine figs on a tree. The greedy crow lost track of time while gorging on them. Suddenly remembering his errand, he panicked and picked up a passing snake. The crow constructed a clever story around this serpent as his excuse for why he had not filled up the cup as asked.

Algorab in Corvus at 13º 27’ Libra ~ Sept 10, Sept 23 Rx, Oct 22.
Anne Wright says “the raven, was given a task by Apollo of keeping a watchful eye on Apollo’s pregnant lover Coronis. The raven reported back to Apollo the unwelcome news that she was having an affair with someone else. Apollo in anger cursed the raven, and its color changed from its former silver hue to the present black.” Again we have a theme of going from light to dark, a Mercurial trait. In myth
Mercury travels from light into the dark underworld and the retrograde period describes just this very act. Astrologically the constellation “Corvus is like Mars and Saturn. It is said to give craftiness, greediness, ingenuity, patience, revengefulness, passion, selfishness, lying, aggressiveness, and material instincts, and sometimes causes its natives to become agitators.” [1.] You can see story-telling is a big theme, as is lying. This will be an extremely gossipy Mercury retrograde, with journalists and paparazzi having a field day preying on the misfortune of others.
Mercury Retrograde & Corvus
Mercury will station retrograde close to Algorab the main star of Corvus. Algorab is “A Mars-Saturn star that can show up the more troublesome side of Libra, a variation on the truth when an excuse looks to be safer.” The Ebertins say of Algorab that “Delays and restraint are indicated to come about by fiascos, losses, wrong handling of matters and enmity in general. Accidents or injuries difficult to avoid.” Traditionally, travel is supposed to be chaotic during Mercury Retrograde, and with naughty Algorab gremlins in the works this might very well be the case for this one. Our minds could play tricks on us as we read dates wrong or get pms mixed up with ams. Double check all your plane tickets!
Agrippa says the wings of Corvus “maketh a man choleric, bold, courageous, full of thoughts, a backbiter and causeth naughty dreams; it also giveth the power of driving away evil spirits and of gathering them together; it is profitable against the malice of men, devils and winds.” I love the fact that Corvus causes ‘naughty dreams’… In medieval magic, Corvus is used to drive away evil spirits when used in a talisman, so there are positives to this potent creepy-crow retrograde. This is an excellent time for exorcism and driving away your personal demons. It is also a good for tricking an enemy by double-crossing them. Fight fire with fire I say, for it takes a good crow to defeat a bad crow. On a practical level, it would be good to purify the house or even re-decorate. You could purge out the ex- housemate/partner with paint if you have split up..
Pretty Little Liars
The darkest days of the retrograde are from Sept 23 up to the Lunar eclipse on Sept 28. Mercury is conjunct Algorab on Sept 23 when we could see some revenge, blatant lying and fiendishness in the press. Kiss and tells, with affairs being exposed. Around the Mercury square Pluto on Sept 24 we could see some whistle-blowing and a great, dark secret revealed. To cap it all the Aries Lunar Eclipse on Sept 28 “is a risk-takers eclipse which could mean we gamble everything on investments or a relationship. So this is one of those all-or-nothing eclipses that could shoot us sky high or cause disaster for us.” This is certainly a melodramatic Mercury Retrograde, but the influence of the crow makes it look a lot more scandalous than it actually is. So we get a Mercury retrograde of bluffing, hype, getting our ‘knickers-in-a-twist’ over nothing and pretty little liars. If you learn to see through the deception and act with bravery, you will have the opportunity to see pure magic working in your life.
