Scorpio decan 2 is ruled by the Sun. The Sun traverses the constellations of the Southern Cross, the Scales, the Crown and the Serpent from November 2 to 11. Here resides the Zodiac’s James Bonds. This is the zone of spies, femme fatale’s, spellbinders, depth psychologists and occultists. Yes I know it sounds abit too much like a stereotypical sun-sign Scorpio interpretation, but this as close as it gets. Scorpio decan 2 conforms most off all to the typical mysterious and secretive Scorpio. You will see that the fixed stars that fall here totally support this. But typically for our Scorpio, there is even more intrigue below the surface.
Having the scales of Libra here gives us more juice to work with. These scales can be measurers used for commerce or the Egyptian balances for weighing the souls of the dead. Equilibrium here is about finding that mid-range of emotions where one is calm and cool. Here we find the famous Scorpio “Poker face.” ( Lady Gaga’s moon here.) Inside, the Scorpio decan 2 may be experiencing a tumultuous emotional storm, but on the outside, nothing, not a flicker, awesome…It’s all in the eyes though, the eyes burning into you with such ferocity, but what, what do these folk want, they won’t tell you?!!! How infuriating. This is when you start doing things for them because they are so ripe for your shadow’s projection. You might feel bullied and overpowered depending how domineering your own personal shadow is, but who is doing that? Them? Well they aren’t saying anything so how could they be…? Yes, you can read a whole lotta “Wuthering Heights” into that blank stare.
Scorpio decan 2 have the knack of bring omni-present, it feels like they are constantly watching and judging you, like god. Deep in the recesses of their brain they are making tallys, keeping a scorecard of all the good and bad treatment towards them. In arguments they can pull out dates and times and even what you were wearing, on the day they were “wronged”. Scorpio decan 2’s make excellent judges and critics because of their innate ability to weigh up all the odds. They are also the world’s best hagglers. They know your real best price and can beat you down to it by very skilled non- verbal communication. They start to walk away and you end up chasing them down the street while they secretly smile to themselves. This makes them very skilled merchants and their business sense is outstanding. However they are never out to rip you off or scam you since their fair minded ethics are pretty solid. Of course there will be a few unscrupulous wheeler and dealers here that will use this stunning ability to their advantage. The unlucky star in Libra’s Southern Scale has a reputation for criminal tendencies. The star Alphecca can cheat in relationships, showing Scorpio’s famous dark side.

My main feeling, when I look at the list of celebrities, is that these are people who seek justice and truth. Some of them may take the law into their own hands, but fundamentally they fight for the rights of the disadvantaged. The only problem comes when their own judgement is compromised by say a mental illness or addiction problems (Serpens here) that skew their reasoning. Their zeal is pretty hard to quash since the Sun ruling this decan gives it such power and this is a stubborn fixed sign too. Scorpio decan 2 are natural leaders and arbitrators. It also means they can use logic to mediate their deep and passionate emotions. Balance is everything with this decan. Balancing the books, balance in relationships, give and take.
If they feel you are taking from them in some way, then energetically Scorpio decan 2 will do something to ensure equality. It might not be obvious tit -for – tat though, for example; you maybe spending too much of the family income, so they will withdraw emotionally. It’s part of their survival instinct, they have to preserve some part of themselves. They really should just come out and say whats upsetting them, but that might reveal too much of vulnerability. Instead they leave their partners to figure out the mystery, thinking you really should be able to read their minds. Scorpio decan 2 needs to remember that unlike some of them, we are not all seers unfortunately. (Nostradamus’s Moon here). Not all of them will have such amazing prophetic ability, but generally these folk will have amazingly sharp instinct and intuition.

Acrux and Mimosa, according to the Ebertins, both give “Inventive mind, intuition and wisdom, a grasp for the inner nature of one’s fellow man. The gift of successful investigation of the hidden side of things. A deeply religious nature connected with mystical and theosophical interests.” So these Crucifix stars here fit very comfortably with tropical Scorpios love of the occult.
Alphecca “ is noted for conveying honor, dignity and artistic ability. But like all Venusian stars it can also have its undesirable effects. Medieval astrologers, who tended to emphasize the more perverse side of astrology, asserted that Alphecca rising indicates a life spent in a variety of pleasurable pursuits by an individual who decked his body with adornments, secretly engaged in love affairs or adultery and who “bedded boys and girls”according to Firmicus Maternus.” Although Scorpio is ruled by Mars and is famous for being a sexual predator, it is also a feminine/water sign. Therefore their emotions run very deep which is why they have such great sensitivity in the bedroom. Scorpio decan 2 have a lovely balance of both tenderness and utter raunchy-ness which is an unbeatably sexy combo. Not only that, is they dress so well! “His heart is set upon elegance, fashion, and the art of adornment, upon gracious living and the pleasure of the hour. Such is the endowment prescribed by the years of the Maid and the flowers of the Crown”
Menkent is found on the shoulder of the Centaur. Since it is in the human part of the figure it has the nature of Venus and Mercury. But Robson says the constellation as a whole is “said to give hard-heartedness, inclination to vengeance, love of arms, strong passion, and an energetic nature. It may be connected with poisons” Again the Centaur has the intoxicating mix of horsey animal magnetism and the refined manners of the human.
Zuben Elgenubi is the main star of the unlucky southern scale of Libra according to Robson “ causes malevolence, obstruction, an unforgiving character, violence, disease, lying, crime, disgrace, and danger of poison.” The two scales of Libra used to be the claws of Scorpio, which was a much larger constellation. So they actually fit very well here in tropical Scorpio. Zuben means “claw” and is the prefix for all the stars that fall in the scales. Libra is actually a very small constellation and six of the nine stars here fall in Scorpio decan 2. So we could say that Scorpio decan 2 might be the true Sidereal Librans. The actual constellation of the scales though, has a very different vibe than the Venus-ruled tropical sign of Libra. You can see that Zuben Elgenubi is most definitely Scorpionic as Dr Eric Morse writes: “It is well to remember here the association of this star with a scorpion’s claw, used for making love as well as for slaying its prey. It does not let go until one or other matter is complete and onlookers are not sure which of the two acts are in process. Sometimes even the Scorpion seems to get it wrong along the way!” It is interesting to see where Scorpio gets its Femme Fatal or Lady Killer reputation. Morse continues that this star “ frequently shows up ill-aspected in many unfortunate situations, from domestic strife and miscarriages of justice to psychopathic killings that started out in the guise of love. Its appearance in better aspect is often just the right moment to repair a relationship and to reconsider an earlier harsh judgment.” The Ebertins say that the unfortunate aspects of the Southern Scale are more marked with nocturnal charts and that it is bad for health with the luminaries. However “A credit given to the Southern and Northern Scales is that they both bestow an immortal name. However, this comes about more by tragic circumstances than by well noted success.” The Southern scale was known as the “Insufficient Price.” So here we also experience loss.
Four degrees on, by contrast, we have extremely fortunate star Zubenelschemali in the northern scale. Also known as the “Price which Covers”. This star represents gain and “It gives good fortune, high ambition, beneficence, honor, riches, and permanent happiness.” As well as being so lucky, Zubenelschemali aptly shines a deep emerald green. Green is the colour of money, status and prosperity. In Manilus’s day the constellation Libra fell at the Autumn equinox. He says “Balancing night with the length of day when after a year’s space we enjoy the new vintage of the ripened grape, the Scales will bestow the employment of weights and measures.” The contrasts between the two scales are significant of course. Now that they fall in tropical Scorpio I think they take on the characteristics of Egyptian Maat. Who “was the ancient Egyptian concept of truth, balance, order, law, morality, and justice. Maat was also personified as a goddess regulating the stars, seasons, and the actions of both mortals and the deities..” She would weigh the souls of the dead against a feather to determine whether they could enter paradise. Of course Scorpio as a sign is associated with the Underworld and the darkside. Talking of the occult, we end on a slinky note. The final star Beta Serpens falls in the head of the serpent held by Ophuichus (The snake charmer or medicine man.) “According to Ptolemy, Serpens is like Saturn and Mars. It is said to give wisdom, craft, deceit, malice, a feeble will and danger of poison.”
