It’s coming up to the Full Moon, and quite aptly, I will be talking about Lilith on Astrologer Adam Somers excellent podcast, scroll back to episode number 43 on the podomatic widget here: “Exploring Astrology”

We recorded it yesterday, but I fear, as it was my very first time being interviewed, (never mind the first time I have actually ever had to SPEAK about Lilith), I may have skirted over things too quickly in my nervousness.

I write much better than I speak, and even words are quite new, 20 years of Illustration has made me rely on pictures to do the talking. I have Neptune sextile Mercury, so I can blame it on that!

During the interview Adam brought up Tim Leary’s chart which I had mentioned in the Black Moon Lilith Rising post. I didn’t have the chart at hand so I bumbled over that a bit. But I would like to go into it now to cover what I missed.

Tim Leary’s Liliths

The main thing that struck me about his Lilith profile was his tight Ceres/Pluto conjunction which opposed the midpoint of his Black Moon Lilith corridor. I mentioned this aptly described his use of psychedelic drugs, Liliths famous “forbidden fruit” to access the unconscious and to convey messages from Ceres herself. Ceres rules the plant world, herbs, entheogens or sacred medicines. I didn’t go into his other Liliths in that article because he was one of a few other celebs and I just wanted to focus on Black Moon Liliths and the corridor.

So what I didn’t mention was in his first house he had a tight Mars/Asteroid Lilith conjunction which amped up his rebellion against the system. Asteroid Lilith is strong in activists and has an Uranian flavour. His exiled, screech owl Dark Moon is close to the MC and tightly quincunx unconventional Uranus, which makes him even more of an outcast.

In the eyes of the public he was “the most dangerous man in America” So Dark Moons demon was projected onto HIM. Being that it was in the 10th, he couldn’t really have a conventional career. His career would have to be exposing and releasing societies demons. Not only that, his Dark moon is squared that Mars in the first, so it raises its profile now. So even tho I said at the end of the interview “forget about the Dark Moon” I was certainly just being flippant.

Dark Moon Lilith

Dark Moon complicates things because it’s confusing, and that’s just what Lilith is, an enigma within a riddle, untidy, unruly and very difficult to put into words.
So with Lilith, in for a penny, in for a pound, you get sucked in! You have to look at her in her entirety for the full story. Dark Moon is the Lilith we don’t want to see. The Ugly sister, the old croney witch with the wart on her nose.

Like her rebellious and more tomboyish younger sister Asteroid Lilith, she gets overlooked in favour of her sexy, magical Black Moon Lilith sisters (Mean & True.) But looking at Tim Leary’s chart again, we see she really pinpoints which type of Lilith energy he has.

Thank you Adam for coming along and forcing me out of my comfort zone ( hiding behind a pen.) What I might do as an exercise, even if no one listens, is turn each blog I write into a short Lilith podcast. I actually have the equipment. I have Garageband and a good mike from when I did the music. I don’t think there are any British women doing this, so it will be great to give a voice to Lilith and get some London accents out there!

Mohandas Gandhi

gandhi

In a previous post about Mohandas Gandhi I wrote “Gandhi’s principle of Simplicity was anti-capitalist. He encouraged his followers to stop buying western-style clothes and make their own. The spinning wheel on the Indian flag is a reminder of this socialist principle.” I didn’t really look into the horoscope of Mohandas Gandhi then but today in our Myspace forum macthebull started a thread titled Astrology of Assassinations using Gandhi as an example. I have looked at the transits to his horoscope from the assassination and the conjunctions to natal planets explain his life very well.

Because Gandhi was 78 years old when he was assassinated, using precession correction becomes critical when looking at the transits. I always use this method for my astrology because I see the the fixed stars as the backdrop to the natal planets, not the zodiac signs.

Mohandas Gandhi Horoscope

It’s like imagining the whole chart moving forward in time with the stars. The fixed stars precess at about one degree every 72 years, so the precession correction value for Gandhi at the time of his death is 66′. You can see what a difference this makes to the orbs by adding the precession correction value to his natal horoscope. I am only listing the conjunctions here:

Pre solar eclipse conjunct Mars 06′, Pre first quarter Moon conjunct DC 36′, North Node conjunct Pluto 53′, South Node conjunct Mars 08′, Saturn conjunct Moon 63′, Ascendant conjunct North Node 01′

What was triggered most of all was the T-square in his natal chart with Moon the focal point, Moon square Mars and Moon square Pluto. The Moon is public and the night, he was shot while having his nightly public walk. Mars rules firearms and shooting, and Pluto is the Lord of death. The pre first quarter Moon triggered the natal Descendant which rules open enemies, he was assassinated by a member of an Hindu nationalist group who openly opposed Gandhi’s policies toward Pakistan. The other conjunction by transit was the event Ascendant on natal North Node, the karmic path I guess which was always destined.

These conjunctions by transit highlighted all but one of the major fixed stars in the natal horoscope, which was Sun conjunct Porrima, named after the Roman Goddess of Prophesy. The most striking aspect by transit was natal Mars hit by the preceding solar eclipse and the South Lunar Node. These were all conjunct the fixed star Zubenelschemali “In good position, the star will arouse, above all things, spiritual and mental forces. Credited with bestowing an immortal name. With Mars: High ambitions, success through energy, influential position, forceful writer and speaker.” With Mars opposite Pluto, “You may feel picked on” Well that’s just the story of his life! It also shows how his energy effected the masses (Pluto).

Gandhi’s natal Moon was on the fixed star Ras Elased Borealis “an appreciation for language and a power of expression”. The square to both Mars and Pluto means he would always have felt compelled to speak out on behalf of the people. His Descendant was on Al Risha which marks the knot which binds the two fishes of constellation Pisces, each heading in different directions. Interesting that he wanted to unify the people of India, but the partition of Pakistan came out of it all, and was the reason he was assassinated. The rising star at the time of the shooting was the same as on his natal North Node, Asellus Borealis “care and responsibility, with a charitable and fostering nature, but danger of violent death….patience, beneficence and courage, and makes its natives heroic and defiant leaders”.

The first Arabic Part of Assassination is Ascendant + 12th house cusp – Neptune. For Gandhi, this was 07ari02. For the date he died, precession correction makes this 08ari08. At 08lib08, exactly opposite when he was shot was the transiting Moon. In the assassination chart, this Arabic Part of Assassination was 00tau57, conjunct the Midheaven of 00tau44. These Arabic Parts involving house cusps only seem to show magic like this when using the Placidus house system.

Based on the fixed stars, the transits and the Arabic Parts, it seems it was fated that Gandhi would be assassinated, always going to happen and someone had to do it. Each person has a role to play in the scheme of things. There is no date of birth available for the assassin, Nathuram Godse, but if there was I’m sure the fixed stars and transits would help explain why he was destined to play this role in history. At 78 years of age Gandhi had a good innings and like in many assassinations, the message he came to give lives on stronger as a result.

“A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act.” Mohandas Gandhi.

Chiron in Astrology.

The New Moon a couple of days ago at 25 degrees Aquarius has activated a part of the sky which has had a lot of attention in the last 9 months. The triple conjunctions of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune have all been around this degree, in May, July and December of 2009.

The last of these conjunctions is 17 February 2010 with Chiron conjunct Neptune. There have also been retrograde stations of these planets here, and Chiron and Neptune station direct around 25 Aquarius in early November 2010.

Like I just commented on Mary Plumb’s article at The Mountain Astrologer, Aquarius New Moon, it’s like this point is being rammed home to us by the universe. I get the feeling that whatever this means is extremely important for us and we need to explore it more thoroughly.” More »
