New Moon April 2012 – Mirach-ulous

New Moon April 2012

The New Moon on April 21 2012 is at 1º Taurus 35’, it is on the fixed star Mirach in Andromeda’s girdle. We get a fancy aspect pattern going on too which the Hubers call a “Trawler”. The points involved are Ceres, Mercury, the North Node, and Mars. Mercury is about to move out of the shadow zone after its Mercury Retrograde stint. There are quite a few seed moments here with all those conjunctions. The geometry makes me think of building security and a nest for the seedlings. The Moon is widely conjunct Ceres so this fertile potential makes
sense.

I think this is a very sexy moon with the trine to Mars and even the aspect pattern is reminiscent of the bottom half of a lady. The chris-cross of the quincunxes show the pubic triangle and the legs apart are between Mars and the North Node. A passionate Arcturus Saturn lies between them, ready to impregnate and make manifest. The “Trawler” to me should work like a Tardis, it has a small opening at the semi-sextile becoming larger as you go in. “The figure works like a vacuum cleaner that points towards people and sucks them in if they come near. They find it hard to get away, not because they are tied down but because they can’t find their way out.” [1] Cue Dr Who theme…

April 2012 New Moon Aspects

New Moon April 2012 Astrology

This new moon is heavily anspected, the closest is Moon sextile Neptune; “There is a real element of a budding saviour quality about it. This aspect is in tune with the common peoples hope and dreams. The nurturing side of the moon can take on a transpersonal role in mothering the world. Neptune’s self sacrificial tendency is very much at home here and the sextile brings a lovely flowering of affection and care towards those they feel are depending on them.”

After that we get the aspects involved in the “Trawler”, closest is Moon trine Mars; “subjects are fiercely protective and passionate about their family. This is an incredibly sexy combination as it brings out the tender sensitive emotions of the moon ripened by the searing heat of an ardent Mars… As warrior queens they could fight for women’s issues or just act like a diva. The trine brings out the drama of both the planets and if any aspect ruled kitchen-sink-dramas or soap-operas it would be this one.”

Lastly the moon widely conjunct Ceres really sums up both these aspects nicely. Together this is Joan of Arc and Florence Nightingale rolled into one, but watch out for the temper! This is tough love here.

New Moon April 2012 on Mirach

New Moon April 2012 Horoscope

Fixed star Mirach is in the constellation Andromeda. She is known as the chained princess. Andromeda’s father offered her up for lunch to the sea monster as a sacrifice because his boastful wife had upset Neptune. Perseus came to Andromeda’s rescue however, she was saved and they were married. Mirach is a really special star because generally “It gives personal beauty, a brilliant mind, a love of home, great devotion, beneficence, forgiveness, love, overcoming by kindness, renown, and good fortune in marriage.” Bernadette Brady’s interpretations with the Sun and the Moon support this with the Sun she see’s it as “Wanting to remove the pain and ugliness of life” and the “promotion of peace”. With the Moon “To be emotionally distressed by ugliness or coarseness. “ and “A desire for peace.”[2]

What is interesting is here in the chart Andromeda’s chains are represented by the planet Saturn, which at the same time is about to impregnate her. Both Ceres and Saturn share the reapers scythe as a symbol. Yet with Ceres this tool has not the sinister overtones of Saturn. Instead it is seen as a harvester. I have already said this Moon seems very sexy and pregnant with possibilities.

Saturn is responsibility, children and relationships can tie you down, but Saturn is also commitment and security. The kitchen sink dramas of this Moon trine Mars will blow up those domestic tensions from time to time. Generally however this is a beautiful loving Moon that will help us clear up the mess of the Mars retrograde now that Mars is direct again.

  1. Yippee more ‘fun’ transits hitting sensitive natal and progressions, oh joy!
It will conjunct my natal Lilith, Chiron, moon, and set off a t-square, with the most sensitive point the opposition with uranus and north node. And since my progressed Chiron is retrograde it should all be very interesting. It will also be trine mars and my natal mars as its nearly time for my mars return.
I am not sure what I expect as its going to affect most of my houses, I am just happy it’s a weekend so if it hits the fan I can hide under the duvet with chocolate and good red wine!

  4. Hi Marina, could you please post the number of Mirach so that we can look up where Mirach is in our natal chart? I thought it might be M0, but it doesn’t turn up in Astro.com. As always, big thanks to you and Jamie’s brilliant work.

  5. Oo! Right on my north node in the 6th! Sextile sun and wide trine to Neptune. Perhaps I’ll decide to beautify my work space or just make some new beginning in regards to my health. I keep saying I need to work out more. ;-P
