The New Moon April 18 is at 28º Aries and falls in Aries Decan 3
Bounty Hunters & Black Gold. Rulers: Venus & Jupiter. Deity: Eros.
“A raging sea and a tsunami of flaming emotions. This New Moon needs to make”love not war”, but if it can’t make love then the war can get very monstrous indeed. Everything is played at epic proportions. A judgemental Moon that takes the law into its own hands, so we find pirates and vigilantes here.”
The New Moon falls on Alrisha, the knot that binds the two fishes together in Pisces. Bernadette Brady says this star represents “the joining of different ideas to create wisdom and understanding, or the marrying of two concepts to create a greater concept. This is a gentle star that indicates a tendency to seek different connections, to look at things in a different light, to join separate concepts in search of a greater understanding.” So we can see that this taming star is just what we need at the end of a very stormy decan. Like the last New Moon we have yet another lunation at the very end of a sign. Even though this is officially the first Aries New Moon of the year, it almost feels like we have already had it. The Spring Equinox that heralds the Suns entry into the sign of Aries occurred 13 hours after the Scheat Solar eclipse, and right at the last minute of Pisces. We certainly had some tragedy and drama with that eclipse. (Which will continue to play out over the next 6 months.) I believe this conciliatory New Moon can help to find a gentle way to unite some very opposite extremes brought out by the Solar Eclipse.
New moon rituals are perfect for planting new seeds and starting afresh. We are essentially working on the blank canvas of the dark moon where our ideas can gestate in the new moon soil. These thought-seeds are slowly awoken by the growing crescent moon as the days progress towards the illumination of the full moon. The darkness of the New Moon gives peace and tranquillity while our seed intentions slowly take root and sustenance form the fertile earth below. This period cannot be rushed and it is a great time to have some quiet dark-moon time to compose our goals and plans for the month ahead. Any wishes made at this time carry great force.
The moon is waxing (growing). We are working in tune with nature if we set in motion things that we want to expand or blossom. This is also the best time to write a list of cosmic orders, which can be big or small. Large-scale projects can bare fruit in 6 months time when the full Moon is the same sign again. Smaller wishes have a two-week timescale to be birthed at the next full moon. The manifestation spell will be that much more powerful if the subjects that you want to birth resonate with the mood of the current new moon. Every month I will present the influences surrounding the current new moon and suggest ways of utilising its energy in order to make a powerful spell for manifestation or impregnation.
