Moon Quincunx Lilith

Moon quincunx LilithMoon quincunx Lilith mixes two unlikely energies together ingeniously and produces original and sometimes downright barmy solutions to lunar issues. This Black Moon aspect comes out as a surreal, truly looney sense of humour, and often yields rather ludicrous domestic arrangements. These people don’t give a fig what impression they make on the rest of the world, so their imagination has a free rein to go wherever it wants to. Moon quincunx Lilith has an improvised quality, like Eddie Izzard’s comedy it leaps from one stream to another and then often just fizzles out with no conclusion. Let’s face it these eccentrics really do need a sense of humour to get through the outrage they so often ignite with their total disregard for social mores and moral codes.

Woody Allen is a perfect example of the Uranian energy of the quincunx mixed with Lilith/moon as the tragic comedian with a geeky, but quite creepy sexuality. As a child he felt alienated from his stern and volatile mother. At 17, to raise money, he started writing jokes for a newspaper and rapidly earned more than both his parents combined. His genius wit and clever writing made him rich quick. Allen then started working on the neurotic, intellectual persona that made him famous. His film writing took a darker, sombre overtone in the 1980’s and he became famous for his tragic-comedies. Although hardly a matinee idol, Allen was married 3 times and was never short of female admiration. Two of his relationships were clearly muses for him in the shape of Diane Keaton and Mia Farrow who starred in many of his films.

Woody Allen’s unconventional relationship with Mia Farrow lasted 12 years, they never lived together or  got married, but they did adopt two children and had one biological son. The Allen/Farrow pairing was tempestuous and a messy custody battle ensued at their separation. Farrow accused Allen of sexually molesting their 7 year old adopted daughter after finding out about his “grossly inappropriate” affair with her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn. Soon-Yi always maintained that she never saw Allen as a father figure and they finally married in 1997. Allen’s biological son by Farrow does not have a relationship with his father or his adoptive sister Soon-Yi saying “That is such a moral transgression. I cannot see him. I cannot have a relationship with my father and be morally consistent…”[1] Allen makes no apologies stating, “The heart wants what it wants.”[2] He has been undergoing psychotherapy for 30 years and this is a theme in his work also.
