Moon Conjunct Uranus

Moon conjunct Uranus types veer between the kooky, crazed lunatic and the unconventional rebel. Some have a pathological need to shock and outrage, but they are surprisingly often shy and uncomfortable with the notoriety this outrageous behaviour brings them. Moon conjunct Uranus can be branded attention seekers, when all they are doing is simply being themselves. The roots of this seemingly bonkers behaviour very often stems from their upbringing. The mother was either a genius, a very eccentric individual, really spaced-out or totally absent. Whatever the case, the mother was just not the same as other mothers so these kids grow up feeling that they are unusually special or that they not worthy of normal parenting because they are freaks. Sometimes there is an odd mix of the two which leaves them feeling very insecure.

Another manifestation of this is that the mother was more of a best friend than a nurturer, so that the child grows up too fast and sees or hears things that were far too adult for them. This can make them childhood prodigies or overly precocious. Some of them reclaim their lost childhood as adults, and are accused of living a fantasy existence. At least this naive fascination with life enables them to think anything is possible and they are often incredibly inventive, ingenious and imaginative. Moon conjunct Uranus can also describe a shock to the infant at a very vulnerable stage in their development, this can leave them feeling rather unhinged. These individuals come across as exciting, electric and quite chaotic unless they have more stabilizing factors in their chart. Both the Moon and Uranus are fluctuating and changeable, their emotions often change in a flash.

David Icke is a great example of the strange childhood, shy misfit and controversy this placement can bring. David’s upbringing was of such poverty that he was told to hide by his mother when the rent was due, except she never explained they were hiding from the landlord they owed money to and not the boogie man… Instead young David would cower under the bed not knowing why this strange man was knocking and peering menacingly through their windows. Icke says he still gets a shock (Uranus) if someone knocks at his front door (Moon). At school he was a loner, nervous and shy to the point he used to feel faint at assemblies. As a footballer and then sports reporter he had a period of conventionality, but that was only until his enlightening experience in 1991. After this episode he constaintly wore turquoise, allegedly said he was the son of god and then was publicly ridiculed for saying so on the Wogan show in front of millions of viewers. The eccentricities continue, he is famous worldwide for “out there” conspiracy theory and lizards.

To be fair David Icke only said he was A son of God and it was really early on when he was struggling to understand all the stuff that was being given to him by psychics. It was a pretty steep learning curve for him. I think he now says we are all god’s children. And psychics say we ALL or most look like huge lizardy things on other dimensions and we are multidimensional beings. I think his worst trait is he goes on too long. The lectures on his tours are SO long I would have to take a library book. But when I met him years ago he felt like a sincere and high energy man. Rather him than a poli any day.

That’s not very revolutionary then Jesus said that a long time ago.

I think Uranus conj a luminary denotes issues of ego. And usually under developed in the sense it is out of proportion. The ego remains that of a child where it is the centre of everything and everyone else is a bit part player in it’s personal drama.
When Uranus conjunct the Moon, the mother is deficient in some way as far as a conventional relationship goes. Uranus is an arid influence and Uranus Mum can be out there or worse, just not there.
One Uranus Moon contact I know had an artist Mother who was too absorbed in her own lack of maturity to emotionally connect. She was actually fearful of responsibility. The father also competed with her and became over involved in the daughter’s life. At age 16, this girl had to be removed from her mother’s home after hospitalising her with a leg injury… Doc Martin boots. She then took up with a man twice her age, just like her Dad!
She found Mother Meera aged 25 and became a healer, of sorts.

As my daughter has this aspect, I was always worried that I wasn’t all there for her. I lost my father when she was just 7 months old, I was told by a psychic that I had put off my grieving. The death didn’t effect my early time with her, I still breastfed and was totally in love with my new baby. But subconsciously I’m sure she absorbed the shock of my fathers death.
Of course the grief then hit me much worst a couple years later when my marriage broke down and went through a midlife crisis (Uranus half return). This all impacted my little girl who was then just three. Between her 3-5yrs I wasn’t all there mentally for her and certainly was the spaced out mother.
The last 3 years have been wonderful with her though. We are now incredibly close. She often says I’m not like a normal mummy, because I make her laugh and am not shouty like other mummies. We do a lot of dancing and travelling together.

I think energy patters aren’t set in stone and because life is difficult in childhood at times doesn’t necessarily mean that the whole life has to be tainted. If the parent becomes conscious and sorts out its issues then if frees the child from this.

          • uberqueenofwands on February 23, 2012 at 12:48 pm

Indeed. And if you are conscious of what is going on you can do things to help along the way. Then there are the levels on which the souls are on which vary. So one manifestation of the conjunction can be dire, while another could be a lot of fun.
You have to look at the signs too – the girl I mentioned abouve has the conj in Scorpio and its conj her asc. Her Mum was a very needy Cancerian. So the conj which is essentially an airy one by virtue of Uranus was played out in an emotional maelstrom.
MArina, as oyu are a multiple Aquarian, Stella’s conjunction probably finds in ideal home in you.

Obsessive compulsive is quite a Uranian thing. I gotta admire the guy for getting over his social phobias and now being able to get on stage in front of so many people. Yes the “enlightenment” must’ve been quite a shock for him, so I’m not surprised he came out with some “crazy” statements.

      • uberqueenofwands on February 23, 2012 at 12:51 pm

I think he connected to the lower astral. Its not all angels out there!
People who are traumatised as children can get an opening in their etheric layer which leaves the door open for all manner of weirderies.

This aspect in my case, which blends scorpio moon and libra uranus made me very shy growing up, feel awkward, to overly intellectualize everything and of course… feel like I don’t belong here, on earth. :)

Also consider strange psychic experiences, as I refer to as “Strange Magic.” At least with the moon conjunct uranus, there is rarely a dull moment!

  3. Jamie on February 23, 2012 at 6:57 am

Hi Lisa, there is never a dull moment living with someone with this aspect either. Both Marina’s daughter and my eldest daughter have this aspect, both on the same degree! Our first holiday together was very intense as they did clash a lot. Marina’s girl also has Mars in between Moon and Uranus, all within 1.5 degrees. My girl has Pallas Athena in between Moon and Uranus, all within 1.5 degrees.

This interpretation is real good from Marina. My girl did have a very unsettled beginning to life, and now only sees her mother infrequently. She does get extremely upset very quickly, but when the drama is over she settles back down quickly too. Even though she excels as sports (Mars conjunct Jupiter), and does have to go up on stage to get awards all the time, she is certainly not comfortable with the exposure and has many hangups about how she appears to others in public.

Now that she lives me me all the time, I can see her Moon as also representing me (Moon nurturer), an oddball astrologer, emotionally distant, at least not constant in my shows of affection.

Because both girls have this aspect on the same degree, I sometimes think one of the reasons Marina and I came together was for the girls to catch up again after some past life connection. Sure been and exciting few years for them travelling between London and Australia. Their Moon Uranus conjunction is 29 Aquarius so it’s been hit off by Neptune and Chiron this last year and their relationships has gotton so close they are like twins.

    • Lenore on February 23, 2012 at 9:23 am

Hi! Thanks Jamie for being so open about your girls. It’s quite an amazing story about the two of them. So I feel prompted to share a bit about my daughter.

Marina, I think, recently wrote about Moon conjunct Neptune. Now today Moon conjunct Uranus. My 15 year old daughter has b o t h ! ! Yes. Neptune in late Cap and Moon early Aquarius.

She is very sensitive and original, as you might imagine. Has dyed her hair bright red, for example. She’s also really clever, it’s easy for her at school. Well thank goodness this major conjunction is supported by sextiles from Saturn and Pluto, and trines from Sun and Mercury. There are a couple of squares from Mars and believe me, when she’s angry we all hear about it. When she was little she reminded us of Rumpelstilskin…I don’t know if you remember the fairy tale, but he’s a little man and once when he got angry, he stamped his foot so hard he tore himself in two.

She’s not very communicative and I sometimes worry about that. Then again she’s a teenager?

Well, I’m her mother. What does that say?! She is deeply loved. Our life is a-typical, we’re American living in France. (She’s bi-lingual and is currently spending a few months in Germany learning German.) Maybe my own need to break out from society’s dictates have been an example for her. How could it be otherwise? Birth families are far away, yet we are close and there is a lot of contact and fun vacations. Also, I meditate and my spiritual path seems to be indicated as well.

I just noticed that she has 6 planets retrograde. I have 5. Now I’m wondering what we’re repeating here.

      Ah, life!

      • Linda on February 23, 2012 at 9:34 am

Cant astrology tell you what you are repeating?? If your sort your energy out it frees your daughter from having to do it.

        • Lenore on February 24, 2012 at 2:56 pm

          Hi Linda,
Thanks for your reply. It got me thinking about what parents can do for their children and what children have come to Earth to experience (going for a basis in reincarnation, successive lifetimes. I’ve been working hugely on my own ‘stuff’, which is connected to Cancer/Capricorn issues. Finally, I can say I’m moving away from enmeshment with my kids and towards a passionate professional life. This is the super short version of long, convoluted story!

My daughter surely benefits from my efforts to achieve personal clarity. She still has the Neptune/Moon/Uranus conjunction, and so it is also hers to know and live from the inside. The world is changing wildly! Could it be that she wanted to go through the learning involved that will enable her to utilize these strong energies in a positive way? Or maybe it’s better stated as a question: What does she want to learn, why was she born with these aspects? Well, the same goes for anyone really!

Fascinating, thanks! I have this aspect if I use the Draconic Chart. With the natal Moon at 18 Aries, I have Draconic Uranus also at 18 Aries. It resonates for me with domestic (Moon) Chaos (Uranus). I yearn to be tidy and organised and when I am, it’s wonderful. But it can quickly descend into a chaotic muddle which I hate but can’t seem to prevent. That can mirror itself in my mental state. If I’m tidy, I’m calm. If it’s cluttered, I can get panicky. I can identify with the inventiveness – I’ll have a sudden “I could do that” moment and it’s like an instant lightbulb. I’m good at inventing solutions on my feet. I also travel spontaneously – if someone offers me a trip somewhere interesting, I’ll go (even though with an empty Capricorn 9th house, that seems unlikely!) Friends say “I never know what you’re going to do next” which seems appropriate for this aspect!

I don’t recognise the mothering pattern in my own life, except that we are good friends and I was an unplanned-for, late, but much loved 3rd child. This is all in my 12th and my dream state is pretty much chaotic all the time – lots of people, lots of conversation and colour and often quite a bit of anxiety about missing deadlines, or trains, or people. I yearn for soft and gentle romantic dreams but with Uranus also transiting my 12th, I doubt I’ll have those for a while! It doesn’t surprise me that Jodie Foster has this aspect given that she has brought up two sons alone.

I am not crazy and I am not a lunatic (most of the time).

    • Marina on February 23, 2012 at 12:22 pm

Ermmmmm, yessss…..You both inspired this. But you are the rebel and Stella is the loon!
      PS. Love the photo xox

  6. Marina on February 23, 2012 at 12:10 pm

Ok this is getting spooky. So I have Uranus square my AC. My closest relationships are with aliens *cough*…I mean Uranians. As we have seen looney daughters have Moon conjunct Uranus. My spaceboy husband, Sun conjunct Uranus.

As a teenager my first love was Gary Numan who has Uranus square AC like me and has Aspergers like Jamie. Both robots then… Love at first sight for me aged 13 on May 24th 1979 on ToTp. The chart for the time of the show 7pm has Uranus rising opposite the Moon. The song, “Are Friends Electric?” And now I have an cyber husband or is it cyborg husband?

How futuristic is this? Most people were still wearing flares.

hi, my daughter also has a Moon/Uranus conjunction in Aquarius in the 8th house. As she has a Cancer ASC, the Moon is her ruling planet. On one level, this shows for her as having a mother (Moon) who is an astrologer (Uranus 8th). Both she and I think she is also psychic, which would fit.
Thanks for the post. best, Sally

My dearest friend’s baby was born today with this aspect (Moon in Aries is in the 11th and Uranus is in the 10th). The baby’s chart -

AC is 20 degrees, 59′ Gemini

Stellium in Pisces: Sun, Chiron, Pallas a few degrees within the 10th and so conjunct the MC (3 degrees, 43′ Pisces). Neptune within three degrees of the MC so moving him forward from the 9th to the 10th and into the stellium.

Also in Pisces are Asteroid Atropos (cool article today, Marina) within a degree of Mercury, also in the 10th, and opposing Mars in Virgo in the 4th. Interesting that the IC is close to the point where Mars will station direct on 14 April. Hygiea in Aquarius is in the 8th, within a few degrees of the cusp of the 9th.

Pluto is in the 7th house and Eris is conjunct Venus in the 11th. Jupiter conjunct Lilith in the 11th as well. Then there’s Saturn and Isis in the 5th.

The baby has three older sisters, one who just turned 16, another who’ll be 14 in March, and a sister who will be 2 in roughly two weeks, also a brother who is a Libra Sun, 21 years now. With all that sibling energy I expected something in her 3rd house but there is nothing there though it is ruled by the Sun (her mother is a Leo Sun). Her parents are a beautiful match (father is a Gemini Sun), an awesome couple.

My friend was very worried going into the surgery (delivery had to be by c section), but she and baby are fine.

Thank you so much for this post -My Moon is conjunct Uranus at 0 degrees 05 in Cancer (my ascendent) in the first house. I can completely identify with being outrageous and very shy, not at all someone who enjoys the limelight all at the same time. My mother was an artist, not a nurturing mother – plus my brother, 15 months older than me, was losing his sight, I understand that my mother was quite preoccupied with that throughout my childhood. So the description of the absent mother fits too.
Feeling out of place has been a theme in my life. I left my homeland at 19 and lived in another country for 33 years – it’s easier to be strange when you’re a foreigner. And anything is possible, of course it is!
My Sun in Taurus and other aspects provide me with some inner stability, I suppose.
Thank you, Marina, I felt like this description really clarified some things about myself.

I have this conjunction, almost exact, less than a degree. My mother had four children in six years. I am number two and the oldest girl. My father was in the military and we traveled with him, so we moved every two-three years. My mother was a little overwhelmed being home all day with four children under the age of six, and had a minute there when she was on some tranquilizers. Then she went back to work, leaving us a home with Turkish babysitters/housekeepers. The aspect is in Leo and my mother has always been as glamorous as her circumstances would allow without her going into hock over it. She and I have been fairly close and we are in constant communication, even though she live 1000 miles apart. She was/is a very good mother, if a little controlling. She can’t help that part. She’s a Scorpio with a moon in Virgo.
