MOON PHASES

Moon Phases 2012

Moon phases are most important in understanding phases of our lives. Solar eclipse’s and lunar eclipse’s last about six months and a read in combination, with the lunar eclipse providing a balance to the themes from the solar eclipse. New moons last four weeks and full moons last two weeks. The full moon follows the new moon and adds to the story.

Moon phases, or lunations, do represent a focus on your life for that period, depending on how they aspect your natal chart. You can look back and see how the story of your life has unfolded, then look forward to the influences which are coming. Follow the links to posts with astrological interpretations.     Hi Marina & Jamie;
Just been looking at your moon aspects, and was wondering if they are all correct. Are there 3 solar eclipses? And the one on the 1st June 2011 says that it is 3degree pisces- shouldnt that be a gemini new moon in the gemini month? Please correct me if I’m wrong, but i do like to write them down in my year book & know the correct signs the moon is in on full & new moons. Some of the others didnt seem quite right.
    Thankyou, Jo

Thanks for pointing out that Jo, will fix it up.

June 1 solar eclipse 11 Gemini, not Pisces.

There are three eclipses in a row in the middle of this year, solar, lunar, then solar again on July 1.

      • Tina on March 6, 2011 at 9:02 pm

Jamie, 3 eclipses in a row seems unusual? Is there a significance here?

        • Jamie on March 6, 2011 at 9:21 pm

It does happen now and again, not that rare. Both the solar eclipses are polar eclipses, which is most interesting though. I think the first one is north pole, then the July one the south pole. Have to do more research on this. And thanks :)

I would love to hear more about the ‘polar’ eclipses. It seems as though an eclipse that is in alignment with the Earth’s pole would have a super-conductive or receptive quality with a far greateer influx of lunar force—what do you think?
            Thanks!

I have thought about this but come up with a big fat blank. I’thought maybe more polar ice melting but have,’t heard anything in the news.

By the way this site just seems to get better and better :)

I’ve been told that december 13-15 is moon in leo. Your post says its saggetarius. Is this correct? What is the best day in astrology for december to cut hair for growth?

    • Marina on December 8, 2011 at 10:06 pm

I think you are looking at 2012. Traditionally it’s good to cut hair just before the new moon so I would say 23rd of December.

Could you please comment on new moon conjunct natal sun (-0.08′) on 21/02/12. Even the date looks strange! It’s in 5th house equal or 4th house placidus.
    thanks!

    • Marina on December 21, 2011 at 10:08 pm

Hi Andrea, Sun conjunct Sun is considered the most important of transits, it’s our birthday after all. Solar return charts are an important predictive tool in astrology and they are based on this date to give clues about the year ahead. So this transits is about a new start for the year ahead, for new beginnings. A time for our personal new years resolutions. The Sun is the source of energy for life, so you an expect an energy boost and increased vitality. Individuality and expression of that comes easier because it is the self that is in focus. The extra energy is put to best use by expressing what you want, what your goals are, and getting the ball rolling.

Ahh so! Precessed my solar return chart in Solar Fire & comes out on day after (22nd) not at the time of the new moon and the sun at different degree to natal sun – is this right? So what significance of the new moon conjunct the sun on my birthday (21st)?

  5. Laura Schakosky on December 21, 2011 at 9:00 pm

I was looking at your list of full moon dates and new moon dates for 2012 and I had a question about the eclipses. What are eclipses? I am trying to figure how to relate the eclipses to the new moon and full moon dates of the year in the months of may and november.

I am hoping I have it right. That the full moons that land on eclipses are June 4 in Sag and Nov 13 in Scorpio. The New Moons that hit on eclipses this year are Nov 28th in Gemini and June 4 in Sag.

Marina, my birthdate is on November 13. Would the eclipse next year have any impact on me? How about if I went to Port Douglas, Austraila on that date? Would that make a difference?

    • Jamie on December 24, 2011 at 5:13 am

An eclipse on your birthday is most auspicious. Port Douglas is Heaven on Earth, sun, sand, reef, fishing, beer. Enjoy and extended birthday party!

    Hello to all of you.
First of all thank you to the author of this page, I think this is very valuable information. I am Yogi (so far astrology dummy) and starting to study the relationship between the constellations during full moon and the emotional status of my students. Therefore it would be rather helpful to know from what moment moon is moving into a new constellation. Is there any program available on the Internet showing the position of the moon over time in respect to the Zodiac?
    Thank you for your feed-back.

    • Uberqueenofwands on January 29, 2012 at 1:09 pm

You could go to astro.com and read their ephemeris, the tables of all the planets and their movements. The moon changes are shown there but you will have to know the symbols for the signs.
I used to teach yoga so this really interests me too! The planets can definitely affect the energy in a class and in individul students. With a Mars retrograde some people might push themselves too hard and achieve little, others might take it easier if they are the kind who push. And so on!

    • Marina on January 29, 2012 at 2:09 pm

Actually thats a good idea. I used to do a weekly forecast and mention the Moon through the fixed stars in the constellations. The only thing was having to mention the time differences, because it changes so rapidly when some of the fixed stars are close together.

Also using fixed stars and sidereal constellations because there are so many, they all overlap. It would be far simpler to just use tropical where the moon changes every couple of days. But thats not my bag!
I think I will make this a fixture in Facebook Dharambir. If you would like to join our fanpage https://www.facebook.com/pages/Darkstar-Astrology/154248607944460. I’ll do a post everyday looking at what stars the moon is conjunct during the day.
