The full moon on January 9 is at 18º Cancer 25’. It is on fixed star Wasat that sits between the Gemini twins. The Sun part of this full moon makes a grand trine with Mars and Sedna. Mars is very active on this moon, it revs up both dark goddesses Eris and Sedna. Remember Lilith is still empowered by Jupiter after their Christmas Eve smooch. So I’m expecting ice queen Sedna to thaw big time, thanks to some smooth talking from bridge-builder Wasat.
From June 2012 Sedna will be within 1 deg of Capulus, the slayer of Medusa’s Head (Algol). In August 2013 it will be exact. Right now she is retrograding back towards Capulus, and starting to melt. Studying Sedna has been illuminating. Jamie found it to be linked to earth changes, her angry earthquakes that can cause tsunamis. This is the part in the myth when the shamans of the world have to placate Sedna by combing her unruly hair. A perfect job for Wasat the diplomat, for Mars (Roman Ares) is also winding up his sister Eris. Wasat has a dark side to it, so it is quite capable at handling gory matters and building alliances in the most trying of circumstances. Both these planets are apt to flare up unexpectedly, so this hot full moon will help bring things to a head for resolution.
At this particular January full moon, any pending and undigested Christmas gripes will regurgitate themselves. Just when you had thought you had packed away the Christmas decorations and the three kings, you find a straggly bit of angry holly stuck to your slipper. This is Mars on the fixed star Denebola, the cranky lions tail. It “has a Uranian nature and it is supposed that, in mundane horoscopes, major catastrophes are triggered off by it.” Hopefully it won’t be yet another earthquake. Personally and mundanely, it might just be a little aftershock, a short, sharp outburst that ties up something that was left pending, once and for all.
This Sedna grand trine should help us bring up those long buried demons and family skeletons that I mentioned in the Sedna post. Although we have a grand trine, there is still a T-square to Eris, so someone will throw an apple-bomb into the works. There is almost a kite aspect pattern here, which can be very beneficial in the long term once the opposition is negotiate. However in the short term, things could get very fraught and tiresome. The trick is to keep reminding ourselves there is a bigger if we can keep ourselves from being drawn into petty squabbles and ego tit for tat. Coming from a spiteful Denebola on Mars: it can be “Bitter, vindictive, cruel, unpopular, loss of position and public disgrace. “
Full Moon January 2012 Horoscope
The closest aspect to the Moon is a square from Eris, Angelina Jolie, Gadaffi and Judy Garland all have this in hard aspect. Eris is an outer, higher octave of the Lilith archetype, which Sedna is to some extent as well. So the Moon is being aspected by two dark Goddess energies. Eris and Sedna, two sides of the same Inanna/Eriskigal coin, opposite yet the same. This energy will work somewhat like a collective version of Moon square Lilith, a period where we all address our propensity to use sex as a drug, rather than its great potential to enlighten. I had found Sedna to have a connection to sex being cut off from the heart chakra, causing a form of frigidity. This moon brings up the issue of exiled feminine and those triangular relationships where the mother archetype is separated from the sexual. Another manifestation of this is having to balance motherhood with a spiritual path or vocation. Difficult choices.
However as I said at the start, Lilith is being empowered by Jupiter, which I already wrote about in the Lilith conjunct Jupiter post. The evolution started with the Christmas Eve New Moon. Now this New Year moon with Eris/Sedna applies what we learnt then to a wider perspective and prepares us for the other two Jupiter/Lilith conjunctions in 2012 (March and December).

Thanks Marina, this cancer moon rounds off a year of change and disruption that is only to be expected when Uranus and Pluto are aspecting one’s Sun, but last year’s beautiful cancer moon was when it all kicked off and I rediscovered astrology. Anyway,my daughter has awful problems with lunations when they hit her chart, and i’m talking suicide attempts, psychiatric admissions, general high drama and most recently flu! This full moon is conjunct her Mars, opposite Neptune, square Mercury/Eris and trine Pluto…and she’s just dumped her cheating boyfriend…should I get the padded cell ready? Out of interest she was born with sun conj Sedna.

I’m sorry to hear about your daughter. She must have an exceedingly lunar chart. Is it angular? Maybe it’s on a really sensitive star. Sun conjunct Sedna is a pretty big deal though too.

I think the main thing about Sabik is the “success in evil deeds” I read that as witch craft and occult ability, so one has to be sure one is practicing with integrity. Watching who one beds with is also very important, so she needs to make sure her partners are pure of heart. She did right.

Ah yes, and the minute you mentioned earthquakes. Guess, what we had a nice shake right on New Years day. The world did not hear about it cause it was just a shake. But it was a 7.0 out in the ocean where the Izu Islands are. It was very deep and there where no reports of damage or tsunamis.
This full moon falls in my 5th house again. The last new moon which conjunct my sun and moon midpoint was in the fifth house.
I am on vacation until the 10th so I am taking a bit easy from a very tough year.

This has a sepcial signifcance for me as it’s an interesting time for me as my husband.We are in a dispute with our former employer for a considerable sum of money. My husband was wrongfully dismissed in the nastiest of ways and they owe us a lot of money. The final court case in on Jan 10, right around the full moon.

Im hoping i will be able to use the power of this full moon. my sun is 0′ cancer in 9th and my moon in libra 12th house so its been well a very challenging quest in recent years. This full moon sextiles my natal varuna in 7th whilste squaring my natal Quaor in 12th, both are almost exact which feels like it holds huge potential for me to honour what these heavenly bodies represent and honour my true self in the process. So hope Ive done the work fully that i will need to have to do so as many need to see its possible around me just now…breathe

It’s definitely strong energy in my chart with it being in opposition to my Sun with 44 minute orb and sextile Moon with 39 minute orb in a Point of Thales configuration in my Right Ascension (Equatorial Longitude)chart. I also have it with Mercury,Mars,Saturn,Uranus in 11th harmonic configuration which also include an Isosceles trapezoid that has corresponding midpoint configurations of Mercury oppose Saturn/Sedna, Sedna oppose Mercury/Uranus,and Mercury/Sedna oppose Saturn/Uranus. The last midpoint configuration aspects my Lunar Nodes.
Transiting Jupiter will be conjuncting my Jupiter in Sedna in 9th again. I think that would be nice spiritual belief transit.
I want to point that Full Moon will square Haumea which is currently in 19’31 Libra. Haumea is classed dwarf planet along with Eris,Pluto,Ceres,and Makemake. It is classed Plutoid along with Eris,Pluto,and Makemake. Haumea is named after the Hawaiian Fertility Creation Goddess. It’s a very unusual object because it is large as Pluto when it comes to its longest dimension,but it is shaped like an egg and has a 4 hour daily rotation. It is also mainly stone. Astronomers say that Haumea was subjected to a collision with another large transneptunian object. Fragments of Haumea became its 2 moons and independently orbiting objects called “Haumeids” One of the Haumeids is actually a dwarf planet candidate.
In mythology, Haumea’s children were born from being broken off from her body. Haumea was also known as personification of stone.
The Heliocentric Pluto Nodes are in 20’28 Cancer/Capricorn right now. The Geocentric North Pluto Node is in 20’37 Cancer/Capricorn and The Geocentric South Pluto Node in 20’18 Capricorn
The Full Moon will be close to the Pluto Nodes
There will be a Sun-Earth-Pluto Node alignment coming soon,and those happen every year at the time of the year.

I haven’t looked into Makemake or Haumea at all yet, and THEN there are the centaurs which are also interesting. The only thing with all this is not seeing the wood for the trees I suppose, but I find I get obsessed by a planet for a while because its reflecting some soul growth, but then it fades into the background and something else comes up.

Although not necessarily good news, it does make sense – Denebola is exactly conjunct my natal Pallas, which sits at the midpoint of my Uranus/Sun quintile. Much as I wish it weren’t so, I’m sure my Pallas has triggered a few minor catastrophes, especially since it’s in my 1st. Knowing transiting Mars is conjunct and plays into this Full Moon at least gives me a heads-up.

Cranky lions eh? Wow, spooky dream and probably a warning yes. Lions do protect too. I think this moon is already active. Our house is a good barometer. Last night he older girls were manic , wouldn’t go to sleep and giggling hysterically until the small hours, it was like howling wolves. I was extra , extra sensitive to noise and flammable to the slightest annoyance. This morning woke up to piercing screaming from the little ones. Heard that a truck had careered off the highway last night into a house injuring 8 people and killing an 11 year old boy sleeping in his bed. This Eris square moon is also cruel…

I also think this Full Moon has been noticeable early on. Yesterday afternoon – following the previous night’s dream – I had a major run-in with a “cranky lion” (a Leo acquaintance, whose Sun/Uranus conjunction is conjunct my Uranus – with all of them squaring her natal Mars and opposing both of our Chirons, which are also conjunct). I had to restrain myself, not wanting to let my own ferociousness get the better of me. Or waste any more words.
You’re right about that Eris square (it’s currently conjunct both my and my former Leo acquaintance’s Aries South Nodes), although I probably wouldn’t have thought of it had you not mentioned it – I’m so used to its influence in my life. There is a sense of cruelty right now, but it all seems very subtle, like it pretends to be something it’s not. It has a self-serving, ruthless quality to it, only it’s shrouded in intellectual rationalization veiled as caring – probably also has something to do with the shadow side of Mars in Virgo (conjunct Denebola) in aspect to both the Sun and Moon. How sad about the child being killed while he slept – I hope he never knew what hit him.

We didn’t do the picnic as we had rain earlier, but went to the headland and washed our crystals in rock pools in the beach. Feel beautifully calm now after a horrendously emotional night previously. I had to look at the chart of the Costa Concordia. The Italian cruise liner that crashed into a rock on Friday night 4 days after this Moon. Stunning chart!
