Time (If Known) & Birthplace .

We consider the fixed stars so influential, that at Darkstar Astrology we place more importance on them than signs or houses. We can see the fixed stars, they have energy, the same cannot be said for astrology sign or houses. It is generally accepted that the fixed stars only influence the horoscope through conjunctions to the planets and also other points, like the Ascendant, Midheaven, and even Part of Fortune. It is the position in the zodiac of the fixed star (the longitude degree), that is used to find the fixed stars in your horoscope.

When using the fixed stars, there is no clear cut rule on how big an orb to use. William Lily gave a 5 degree orb to 1st and 2nd magnitude stars. The Behenien Stars get a 6 degree orb according to Marina, and Vivian Robson suggests a sliding scale: 7.5° for a 1st magnitude, 5.5° for a 2nd magnitude, 3.5° for a 3rd magnitude, and 1.5° for a 4th magnitude fixed star [The Fixed stars and Constellation in Astrology, p.103]. We both have their different preferences for the use of the fixed stars. Jamie uses all the named stars and uses smaller orbs. Marina prefers to include less fixed stars in her readings and uses up to a three degree orb for the brighter fixed stars and those star nearer the ecliptic.

Due to the precession of the equinoxes, the fixed stars move forward through the zodiac at one degree every 72 years. Precession and Astrology gives a detailed explanation of why we focus on stars and their constellations in our work. “the Fixed stars give great gifts, and elevate even from poverty to an extreme height of fortune, the seven planets do not do so” ~ William Lily.

    Hello Sir\ Madam,

I have small query on Astrology. I work as software engineer and I had a very little knowledge in Astrology.

Currently, Mercury is ruling for 17 years (2010 to 2027) and internal dasa is in the seq order as,MER, KET, VEN, SUN, MON, MAR, RAH, JUP, SAT

Now I got to know that the <> , what does this means ? How long Mercury will be in Naidhana Tara ?
Is this only for me (as per my DOB) or is this generic for all Acquarians in 2011 ?

    As per google,
    1. Janma Tara- Birth
    2. Sampat Tara- Wealth
    3. Vipat Tara- Danger
    4. Kshema Tara- Well Being
    5. Pratyak Tara- Obstacles
    6. Saadhana Tara- Achivement
    7. Naidhana Tara- Death
    8. Mitra Tara- Friend
    9. Parama Mitra Tara- Good Friend

Can you please let me know on the same ? Thank you so much.

    Regards
    Shyam

Can’t help you with this question Shyam. I have not studied Vedic astrology and don’t really understand much of it. Good luck with it anyway.

    Hello,
I wasn’t sure where to place this post. I’ve been contributing to the post on Hitler and in some ways, it might have been appropriate to put it there, but this is mainly about Algol, so I chose this site.
It is a too long and too convoluted story; I’ll try to be brief. In November 2009, in a community centre where I had just set up a private psychiatry office, the second person in charge of the building walked in to a private meeting I was having in the group room, put her hands around my throat and said you are my worst nightmare. The colleague with whom I was meeting is a very gifted osteopath who saw gray oozing smoke emanating from this woman’s hands around my throat. That night I had a “dream”–or more like a visitation– of a male who proceeded to rape and tear apart a young woman before my eyes until nothing was left but blood, bone fragments, and semen. Two days later, I started having visions of a man with a gun going into that centre and shooting everyone in there, including the children in the day care and the disabled people who have an art gallery there. Fifteen months later, an investigation that was commenced due to my action is still ongoing; meanwhile the two women in charge of the building, both of whom are “possessed” (no question in my mind; confirmed by a prominent astrologer who looked at the moment of the assault) are still working there. I spent months in what I call a still point, keeping the guy with the gun at bay until that danger passed. I had to stop working immediately..these women concocted false stories and false documents about me and sent them to my college…patients and former patients were in peril if I didn’t make it look like they had “won”; and typical of such whistleblowing scenarios, all the people who had made formal complaints over the years to no avail; all former staff driven out by these women, refused out of fear, to join with me in seeking resolution.

I have now been broke for months. I just got the notice from the bank’s lawyers that my house is up for a sherriff’s sale May 19, 2011 at 12:30 PM. I looked at the chart of this time. The ascendent is conjunct my nPluto at 26 Leo; the descendent is conjunct my natal retro Merc at 26 Aquarius; (my natal Sun is 19 Aqu); thus making a T-square with Algol. The IC is conjunct my natal Ascendant at 18 Scorpio; the MC is conjunct my natal DC at 18 Taurus. The Sun is 28 Taurus; the Moon is quincunx the sun at 27 Sag–the Galactic Centre. I use the Fibronacci asteroid as a delineation point for any chart (based on Chaos theory). It is 1 Capricorn–my transformation point, determined by using Lynn Koiner’s calculation method.

The building where I was assaulted is located on ground zero of the biggest man-made explosion in history prior to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is also the site of a former orphanage.

I “know” I performed a huge healing of that site over the past year plus. I “know” part of the job was the exorcism of the energy that was transmitted to me that day in November 2009 by the choking assault (Algol–choking.) I “know” the woman who put her hands around my throat did exactly the right thing–passing on an energy to someone who had the capacity to clear it.

One day, just a few months after the assault, I was driving over the bridge that spans the harbour between the two cities where I live and I glanced at the building where the assault occurred. I had never looked at the building at that angle, where it has one extra level because the land slopes down toward the harbour. I gasped when I saw it. I have one drawing saved from my childhood –it is a child’s outline of that building–the exact number of windows vertically and horizontally. There is no question in my mind that this is THE shamanic healing task I was destined to perform in this lifetime.

The explosion that occurred in this city, happened in 1917 at a time that was 10 years after the death of Hitler’s mother. I have studied Hitler’s mother’s natal and death charts, along with Hitler’s natal chart–a lot. She died at the time of Hitler’s 1st nodal return–a time considered by Rudolph Steiner to be an extremely important karmic period. There is much more to say about this; and about the significance of the explosion with respect to Hitler but I just leave this as a piece of the puzzle that is critically important.

About a month ago, the first case came forward of police charging a former employee of that centre for child abuse. The victim, a man now in his late 50′s, had been unsuccessful for years in his attempts to get the police to lay the charges. There is no doubt in my mind that now that the stagnation of energies in that building is cleared, the rest of the healing can begin.

And when these women are fired from their positions, I will then become their strongest defender. I only sought a punitive avenue of consequence after all my attempts to have these women quietly “retired” failed. I know these women from twenty years ago. They were –and are– “good” women, working in the front lines of inner city social work for 25 years. Much much too long–no one can do the work that long and not take on a huge burden of shadow –and add to that, the history of the particular place where they worked.

I have “known” for months, from repeated divination methods, that the “solution” to the problem of my house will not reveal itself until the 11th hour in a fashion not at all anticipated. In the meantime, I go through all the ways I can think of to raise the money. That is all part of the process.

I believe that a good “chat’ about Algol in all his/her glory would contribute to getting a better grip as I ride this one through.

BTW, you may be wondering how a psychiatrist could get broke so quickly? I had an inner city practice; I paid for a lot of services for my patients that middle and upper middle class people have insurance for such as bodywork, or that insurance doesn ‘t pay for such as divination consultations. I have always lived on the edge financially and trusted Flow. I still do..trust Flow.

Any takers on a good chat about Algol??

    • Jamie on April 17, 2011 at 5:08 pm

Hi Judith. We really need to start a new thread for Algol, a new post I mean. Marina is very interested in this, as her daughter has Lilith conjunct Algol. Lot’s of us have stories to share so I’ll chase her up about it.

      • Judith on April 17, 2011 at 5:33 pm

        Hello Jamie,
I do believe that is a terrific idea! Good to look at several different “unfoldings” of Algol in people’s lives concurrently, to best appreciate this fixed star’s fullness. I do remember reading about Marina’s daughter’s Lillith:Algol conjunction.

I also feel, ever so strongly, that the dual nature of Algol, like any entity, must be explored concurrently, especially with such a malevolently, creepy reputation as has Algol. In many ways, I have felt for quite a while that Darkstar is the place to talk about this and somehow that feeling has become stronger since you and Marina were married. For me, the dominant theme of the evolution of consciousness is, in fact, the “sacred marriage” of the divine masculine and feminine–the very dynamic that was reported as manipulated in such a twisted fashion in the book on the Dalai Lama by the Tremondis, as mentioned in the Hitler post…..

You and Marina, as both life and business partners, kind of embody for me, in real time, this sacred union, from an astrological perspective.

Anyway, I’m psyched so let’s do it! A post devoted to good ol’ gruesome Algol! yeah!

    • rob on April 17, 2011 at 10:37 pm

Hi Judith – I have Algol on my DC exact, square Pluto at 28 Leo and BM Lilith at 25 Pisces, Jupiter (10th) opposite Juno also trines/sextiles in – you will find my chart in the ‘admin’ post (comments) – we have some interesting synastry and I will respond to your comment here, but, ‘offline’ first…..

I have some experience of Algol – you might think this star is all bad news – perhaps its time to put the record straight?! I think so…..

      • rob on April 17, 2011 at 10:42 pm

sorry, always doing this – Lilith at 25 Aquarius….burnout!

      • Judith on April 17, 2011 at 11:25 pm

        Hello Rob,
In fact, it was just last night that I found a terrific article about Algol on line in which just under half the content was devoted to the POSITIVE possibilities of a significant Algol placement. And although at first glance, my story might sound all gloom and doom, in fact that assault brought about an opportunity to stay home and bond with my relatively newly adopted son from Ethiopia as well as do quite a bit of creative writing–something I hadn’t done in more than 3o years!
So, yes, Algol isn’t all bad and thank God I read that article before I looked at the chart for the sale of my house or I might have croaked on the spot!

I don’t know the correct lingo for this in astrologese but I am ready to work that chart and make it sing for me!

    • Uberqueenofwands on December 6, 2011 at 6:29 pm

What an extraordinary account. I too have the Algol sq Pluto and have been on there receiving end of some vile women and their behaviour. One of them has The same square but has mars on Algol.
But what grabbed me in this story is the smoke coming off the hands.
About 12 years ago I was training to teach yoga at an Ashram in Grass valley CA. It was a really hardcore set up and a new temple had been built and consecrated by Hindu priests etc. The director of the ashram was a Vietnamese woman, a Swami. Long story short she was of the opinion that an ashram should turn no one away. A man found his way in and set himself up to do various tasks around the place. He also managed to deliberately break someone’s hand by stamping on it while she was attending a discourse, cause some electrical short circuits and generally unsettle people. He was asked to leave but came back.
I noticed he had joined a procession to go and meditate at the newly consecrated temple. I was determined no to sit in front or behind him, choosing a spot where he was visible to me if need be but not in direct line. At some point during the meditation i was compelled to open my eyes. I saw grey smoke emanating from this man’s chest. I quietly alerted some one else who confirmed what I saw.
The next day he was removed from the ashram.
I don’t know what the history of the site was but I can recognise a 12 th house connection between psychiatric clinic and ashram.
You’ve prompted me to go back and look at the astrology for my time there. Jamie already linked it to a kundalini/Lilith experience.
I was adamant at the time this man was dangerous but also intrigued by the viet Swami who had sublimated her sexuality totally. The weird thing was, my karma yoga was to clean her offices and private rooms. This was her personal request. I was stunned to find she did sculpture in her spare time and even more so that her sculptutres looked exactly like me. Whereas she was stocky and black haired but with a shaven head, I was then slim, very curvaceous and had a bounty of long golden hair, exactly like her sculptures which were sort of Barbie in a swami guise!

    Hello,
One final piece of interesting information. I spoke at length last year to an American astrologer who had studied the astrology of that particular explosion as well as the astrology of this city. When he took a look at my birth chart, he said, “It’s like _______is the worst place you could have chosen to live in; AND the only place you could have chosen.”

    For what that’s worth.

    • rob on April 17, 2011 at 10:40 pm

Judith: “It’s like _______is the worst place you could have chosen to live in; AND the only place you could have chosen.”

that is a good description of Algol…..

well I know sun/capricorn 0-2 degree produces a rather pathetic character…whala spiculum and alnasl, place mars there and it’s wantom distruction…and I rather dispute 00 aries, and early degrees of virgo are great, calm order, serene animal lovers. every degree important, all the while I thought it was the sun!

lucy: well I know sun/capricorn 0-2 degree produces a rather pathetic character…whala spiculum and alnasl, place mars there and it’s wantom distruction…

In the comet Elenin discovery chart, Mars is there. My Part of Fortune too. Good interp from Dr. Morse for Spiculum. We watched The Day of the Triffids last night. Spiculum and Anasl the Lagoon and Trffid nebulae

“Ptolemy rates it as a Mar-Moon type, another of the ‘blind stars’ and a figure of great foreboding. We must at least go along with the planetary simile, for there is indeed a strong tendency towards depression and a rather morbid outlook religiously, in horoscopes having this star strong and harshly aspected. Such a condition does of itself make for all manner of problems, psychological and physical, eyesight included. There is often that feeling of negative ‘fear of God’, rather than comfort from the sensing of His Presence, the feeling that He is Omnipotent in such a way that the individual’s life is of no concern to Him, so that we are hopelessly doomed. The classic novel The day of the Trifids, with its fear of extinction of humanity by mere plants, conveys the negative associations of this nebula perfectly. But well aspected, the Trifid, or Spiculum, shows just the opposite in the person. There can be a very real feel of companionship with the entire Universe and its Creator and remarkable ability to plunge deeply into the seas of philosophy and come up with joyous and meaningful answers through a very happy intuition.” The Living Stars, Dr. Eric Morse.

Hi I personnaly have a Sun tightly conjunct to the Facies in the 5 house and saturn exalted in the second house in libra. I am looking to get information about that star, but it seems that nobody really agree its real meaning. I personaly dont believe that it is a so bad star, but I have a bad time finding interesting cases. Any help ?

    • Marina on November 21, 2011 at 8:41 am

      Hi Julian,
It’s another one of those difficult stars that needs to be used at a very high vibration otherwise it can be very ruthless, rather like Pluto. The orb has to be very tight with Nebulas, Jamie says it has to be very tight I think under 30′.

Otherwise Bernadette Brady says this of Facies:
“Facies is the penetrating stare of a lethal weapon. It holds the most difficult and possibly the most violent symbolism in the Heavens. It represents a penetration of action that has no regard for others and a perosn capable of this can become a great leader or a fearsome dictator (I think Hitler had Facies somewhere) The other side of Facies is the individual who may be victim of the archers stare. Facies can thus be cruel and ruthless or in a gentler manifestation, it can symbolize strong focused energy producing someone who is a high achiever but somewhat brusque in manner”

Now Saturn may tone it down or make it even colder. How do you feel it works for you, have you been accused of being cold and callous or are you the victim of it? Or do you work in a field where precision and strong nerves are needed? Surgery I’m thinking, or bomb diffusion!

      • uberqueenofwands on December 12, 2011 at 10:39 pm

Hi M – I have just done a chart for a really tragic case – I’ve posted something about it on the Ceres page – its a male sex abuse victim with some impossibly awful stuff to sort out. Amongst the plethora of nasties is Facies conj Lilith…
He has Sun Ceres conj opp PLuto and square Saturn, Dschubba on Saturn. This man was sexually abused by his grandfather. One of his siblings was murdered by the grandfather during an abuse incident (choked to death) and the grandmother and family kept it concealed and passed off as an accident.
Theres much more to this story but I don’t want to go into the details – its all too grim. Uranus and PLuto will conj Facies and Lilith for this man and Neptune and Chiron are now on the T square… Poor soul.
I put the chart through the Chakra took and it was incredibly revealing – gave me a whole other dimension as was able to see which chakra the energies were expressing through and whether they were yin or yang energies.
Interestingly, the mooladhara chakra has the moon in Gemini as a yin expression (Bellatrix conj?) This is again, familial and instinctual and in the base chakra very crude. A different angle on the dark side of a moon and duplicitous too at this very crude instinctive level. As if duplicity is in the limbic of the moon intelligence…

Facies and Lilith conj are square Venus and Eris in the 12th… between 8/10 degrees so will have Pluto and Uranus in turn touching this square… Saturn is opposing Sedna in his 12th. Karma and the forgotten enraged feminine.

I think putting the stars in the chakras where possible and finding if they are yin or yang could be really useful as one is active, one is passive or masc/fem pos/neg etc

I wish there was a way to calculate where the Lilith Facies conj falls in the Chakra system.

        • uberqueenofwands on December 12, 2011 at 10:49 pm

sorry that should read Chakra tool …

  13. Carmen on December 7, 2011 at 7:23 pm

I’m wondering if our callus, dictatorial prime minister Stephen Harper has the Facies prominent in his chart? I’m not familiar with this nebula but he is unbelievable. Many years before his election (by only 38% of Canadians) he was wooing the American right with promises of ending our so called welfare state which was working just fine. He told them no one would recognize our country when he was through with his plans. I wonder how we will be able to get rid of him? He has a planet in almost every sign and a cold Aquarius moon. I’m not sure if it is common knowledge but we have been taken over by the religious right here in Canada. Harper is an Evangelical Christian. Very Scary!
Where are the Facies in the sky?

  14. Carmen on December 7, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I just found my copy of Vivian Robson’s fixed stars so I know it is a star in Capricorn at 7 degrees. I just answered my own question. As for Harper, he has it conjunct Saturn! He stops at nothing to impose his agenda. He just passed a draconian crime bill which will increase our prison population by at least 30% when crime in Canada is rapidly decreasing and has been for decades. His whole approach is punitive. He won’t listen to anyone, controls his government absolutely, and ignores parliamentary procedures. In other words he thinks he’s the king of Canada and we, who didn’t vote for him, loath him.
