Cancer decan 2

Cancer decan 2 is ruled by Mercury and Mars (Scorpio triplicity). The Sun scorches its way through the constellations of the Twins, the Greater Dog, the Great Ship, the Lynx and the Unicorn from July 1 – 12. This decan contains probably the most famous stars in the sky, Sirius. Cancer is also awarded the 2nd most important luminary, the Moon as its ruler since it the first month of life-giving summer in the northern hemisphere. The Moon is the second brightest object in the sky, when it is not being mysteriously dark! So it is actually quite befitting that Sirius should find its home in such a hot section of the ecliptic.

We tend to think of Cancereans as being rather soft and pliable due to it being a water sign, but these people are no pushovers. Yes, when they are young they are as cute as hell with their trademark puppy dog eyes. Then they grow up to be great hairy wolves…in attractive sheepskin that is. The mix of water with the heat of Sirius makes these people incredibly sultry.

Devoted Wolves & Hermit Crabs

We mustn’t forget that Cancer is also a cardinal sign, which means it is has leadership qualities. The first sector of a new season is pioneering and forceful as the new energies take hold and establish themselves. Take this fluffy wolf, throw in Mercury the trickster, heat it up with Mars and the dark twin Pollux and you get a very intriguing breed of Cancerean indeed. In myth Mercury conversed between the gods and the underworld, he is a bridge and mediator between the two. Here we have the guides, a light in the inky black night. Dogs can guide the blind just as the stars guided the ships.

There can be a distrust of this decan, possibly because it takes these people a little time to shake off the coal dust from the underworld. They can seem a little scary in the bright sunlight, their ‘black looks’ showing up the wisdom lines in their faces, like coal miners. They come across like old souls in a child’s body which can be a bit disconcerting  These folk’s super-success may come from a deep feeling of being unworthy or tarnished in some way. Nevertheless these people are bright sparks and because of that they attract a lot of envy. Often Cancer decan 2 don’t understand themselves why people are so jealous of them, when in fact they themselves are feeling envious of others.

Cancer decan 2 can be the true moody, crabby crabs. When Sirius heats up, it’s a searing white heat causing a very premenstrual type temper that comes like a bolt from the blue. In ancient times Sirius was associated to feverish temperatures, which brought pestilence. The star was actually not regarded as a good omen at all. At the same time Sirius was Orion’s trusted hunting dog. For the Egyptians, Orion is Osirus, and Sirius is Isis his beloved wife. This Goddess totally fits with the side of Cancer that we know as the devoted, nurturing moon. Isis association with Cancer decan 2 gives the ability to resurrect and ability to breath life into the dead…. (Continues in eBook.)

Sun Cancer 2

Sirius 14º “Sirius in conjunction with the Sun and well placed in the chart will be found to be the case with numerous important and famous personalities. Possibly, the rise in station is made possible by protection from people of influence.” [2] “ Success in business, occupation connected with metals or other martial affairs, domestic harmony.[3]
Canopus 15º “ Domestic affliction, trouble with father or parents, financial loss, danger of accidents, burns and fevers, unfavorable end to life.” [5]

Cancer decan 2Austin Coppock calls this decan ‘the walled garden’ and says these people really need the right environment to thrive. “The natives cultivate their life carefully, nurturing their relationships and career toward maturity” But that they are ‘hot house flowers’ and therefore “there is a vulnerability…, and thus a fearfulness … when they are forced out of their comfort zone” [6] As blazing and cardinal as this decan is then, the Sun Cancer 2 is surprisingly vulnerable. However there are enough formidable characters below, plus the super-power that is the USA. But it is true that this energy really doesn’t like to go far from what it is familiar with, and famil-iar IS the word. They feel safest within their family group and if they are not close to their blood relatives they will stick close to others they consider to be their tribe. Staying loyal to their clique is also important as that way they can keep their precious protection! We can see how the crabs shell is very much that protective shield. Canopus shows the dark side of the decan, and one where domestic life is far from blissful. This can be because these folk find it so hard to leave their family group, even if they are abusive.

  1. I have the sun @ 14.05 cancer and midheaven @14.07 cancer, I identify with all these sirian traits, but also the traits attributed to Canopus. Wide comprehensive knowledge. I’m only 22 yrs old I know success, fame, high office, and fortune await me.

  2. I’m currently puzzling out the tropical/sidereal issue. The tropical obviously works on some level as I can see the personality traits mirrored in people, but I can’t quite get my head around using the actual constellation in the symbolisms. If the tropical zodiac works by seasons and sky quadrants, then why are we still discussing the fixed stars as if they still impact that section of sky? I’m mortified that I told an indigenous friend with a mythological Sirius connection that he has jupiter and venus conjunct Sirius……. when going by realtime proximity he has saturn and mars. A totally different kettle of crabs 🙁
